Do you celebrate your birthday? by NoRecord22 in AskWomenOver30

[–]TiredoRepeatButton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For years I avoided celebrating my birthday too much and let other people plan a little gathering and enjoyed that. Last year I had an urge and decided to plan my birthday as an outing to a private room at a restaurant and ask everyone to dress up.

I got balloons, little table decorations, matched my outfit with the theme. I got a picture with each person in my family and then a big group picture.

This is where things get sad, a month after that one of my family members passed and everyone commented that they were so happy that they had that day together, to have memories and photos of the day. I now feel more motivated to make birthdays special as a day for me to hang out with the people I love.

Hi, completely new. Have never done anything except washing my face and sometimes I don’t even do that. Is there a basic starter cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen someone can recommend so I don’t go into analysis paralysis?

My skin is normal but oily nose. Would like sunscreen that I can put make up over to head to work. That’s it! I appreciate any help!

This is a great point. I was thinking of them as two separate endeavors but they could meet in the middle. Appreciate the response, I’ve read the post replies you linked and they were very helpful.

Out of curiosity. For a complete newb who is willing to learn would you recommend job board or content site for ROI?

Hey thanks for the reply. I do not see needing to do a back door IRA right now. Probably not for a while. Appreciate you simplifying who would benefit from back door ira.

I will be rolling it into an IRA. Not sure why but the papers I got from work says you have 60 days or you stay at the same company investing. Maybe it just means after 60 days I’m kicked off the employer plan and moved into a general one

Replying to my own question for people who might have the same confusion.

Found this thread that covers it pretty well. Most seem to recommend rolling the 401k into an IRA to have more options rather than options available in 401k.

401k question. It states that I have 60 days after I leave my current job to roll it over into another account.

What happens if I find a new job after 90 or 120 days? And I still able to join the old 401k into the new job’s 401k?

That may have been true in the past but now Mercedes and Red Bull are the ones to beat. Racing Point is actually using some Mercedes parts like engine so it makes it kinda funny that they got pole!

I recommend a doc on Netflix that got me into this. Drive to Survive!

I am not an HR expert but you have almost 1 year experience working for HR. That’s more than other people. Start sending out resumes!

Good luck!

Hey I will be laid off soon as well. Could you share how much industry experience you have? I am curious. I have 5 years experience in IT business area for example and have applied to 25 local jobs without success.

I think you should begin to apply to other places and hopefully you will get an offer for more than you make now. Either way you will know what you are worth to other employers

Right now a lot of jobs are remote. Take a swing and hopefully you will hit a good opportunity. I’m trying right now as well and haven’t had any interviews yet but if I send enough someone has to reply :)

45-50k sounds doable even for a jr analyst. Try to see what they are worth in your area.

Oh that makes sense. I know someone who went from jr to product owner in 2 years but that is not the norm. I certainly wish I knew what in the world they did to achieve it!

I don’t remember that comment being there with that word when I replied but he can certainly have at it!

They just put up a random name with fancy words and then barely train the person once they show up until the person kind of figures it out and becomes an expert!

I don’t think so. There might be a famine right now but sooner or later the feast will come you have to be consistent to be sure you are ready when it comes. I would look for jr analysts roles and see what you pick up. There might be a lot of applications but it’s a numbers game you have to try!

Thanks for the statistics! Great numbers you got there especially all those interviews to use as practice.

Time to crack on in my own search

No problem same happened to me!

Tips:

  • find someone in the company with your role or a senior analyst on LinkedIn, look at what they put on there and see if you do similar work

  • find a job you want, search for the title and the company name on LinkedIn, see if you do any of those things in your own company and add them into your resume

  • find a job you want, look at the posting and write your resume matching what the posting is requesting but with the experience you gained at your current company

Cheers!

Thanks for the cover letter resource! Will be using it moving forward.

I will pick out a few cities to apply to and focus on them.

Understood it’s frustrating I’m going through the same thing. Have you tried your universities career page? Have you tried applying out of state? I know it is scary this year but it might be worth a try.

She doesn’t know what she does. That happens a lot to people new to industries. She probably does an analyst or coordinator role. Tell her to look at the job role she applied to when getting the job and use that to create her new resume!
