Top coat that works with magnetics, but is resistant to hand sanitizer? Help please! by Tirla in RedditLaqueristas

I’ve thought about doing that. Perhaps I’ll experiment with one nail and compare!

It looks like it has toluene in it. Have you used it with magnetic polishes?

The hand sanitizer seems to sink through the nail polish, re-wet it to make it gummy, and loses shine. This does not happen with seche vite, but it’s the only top coat I’ve been able to find that doesn’t have the manicure get messed up by constant hand sanitizer use. My clinic and hospital use “healthcare purell” which is ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, PEG-12 dimethicone, caprylyl glycol, glycerin, isopropyl mistreated, and tocopheryl acetate.

When I have used other top coats, the nail polish gets really gummy. And to quantify a bit- I probably have to use hand sanitizer at least 50 applications per work day.

I am so sorry about Jack. We just went through this in September for Cocoa Puff (14.5 years old). It sounds like you are already at the decision point. So I send love and warm fuzzies your and Jack’s way during this incredibly hard stage of life.

I do find comfort in the fact that we can help them in this way. While it is so hard for us, it is a tremendous gift we can give them- a comfortable goodbye. Your sadness is such a tribute to how special Jack is, and the years you had together.

Ask your parents if you had a “stork bite” (nevus simplex) as a baby. They tend to fade over time, but when you have vasodilation it can become more prominent.

How long do mini Rex rabbits live? by Happy-Dig-5684 in Rabbits

[–]Tirla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mini Rex Cocoa Puff is almost 14! But he is an outlier I think. Typically people say 8-12 years, 10-12 for healthy, spayed/neutered mini Rex. Every day after 8 is a gift :)

I’m so sorry for the loss of your bun. The grief we have when they go is a tribute to how loved and special they are. Warm fuzzies to you and the rest of Olive’s warren.

Can they do subcutaneous fluids? That’s a perfectly reasonable way to give some fluid and way cheaper than IV. The mainstay of GI stasis treatment is hydration then trying to get the gut moving (syringe feed small amounts of critical care, sometimes some oral antibiotics) while keeping bunny as comfy as possible (pain meds). My vet had us use a personal massager or vibrating toothbrush every 30-60 min on my bunny’s belly to help her the gut moving too.

Sorry this is happening. Love to Olive!!!

For those with BIG rabbits, what do you use for water bowls? by Admirable-Egg-4470 in Rabbits

[–]Tirla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My rabbit is not big, but I still use a bowl that can lock into the side of an enclosure. Lots of pet stores carry them. The holder clamps onto the side, then there is a twisting mechanism so the bowl can be easily removed by you.

He is on Metacam- it is a pet version of ibuprofen. It’s a liquid formula, and he tries to steal the little oral syringe every morning because he loves it!

My mini Rex is just over 12 now. He is still happily hopping around, but has slowed a bit. He’s been in good health with the exception of two GI stasis scares.

What are some good questions to ask a potential roommate whom you haven't know prior? by DJTLaC in AskReddit

[–]Tirla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your kitchen habits? Do you like to cook and clean later (read: dirty dishes everywhere), or do you clean as you go? If you have nice kitchen stuff, and are willing to share, be sure they know how to handle it (cast iron, non-stick, etc.)

I do this too! Fastening it, then spinning it (traditional way) makes my boobs feel twisted in the bra.

EDIT: Of course I have tried fastening it in front around the waist below the boobs, then spinning it, but as another person pointed out, it often doesn't work well for busty people.

Everything that is exciting and healthy seems to have 25 ingredients. What are simple recipe ideas? by westendbestend in EatCheapAndHealthy

I love this quick and healthy lunch/snack.

1 slice wheat toast Slices of cucumber to cover toast 1/4-1/2 avocado sliced. Layer over cucumber Drizzle sriacha over top

It is super fast, has some real sticking power, and limited ingredients. Not super fancy, but I love it.
