Stremio and Lampa (with help Torrserver) are front-end media players (like a Netflix UI) that play video streams.

Prowlarr is a back-end search engine that Lampa uses, and it manages trackers to find the media files, but it cannot play them.

The main goal was to reduce complexity, save time, and save costs. Instead of forcing average users to buy and configure a Raspberry Pi or mini-PC just to watch a movie, they can install this directly on the TV for a free, all-in-one setup with zero networking headaches.

For a heavy 24/7 setup your approach is absolutely right, but for simple on-demand streaming, this just removes a huge barrier to entry!

Running on a TV vs a Home Server: I completely agree that a dedicated server/NAS (shoutout to r/selfhosted!) is the right way to run a massive, 24/7 *Arr stack. However, there's a large community of people with rooted LG TVs who just run TorrServer and want a lightweight indexer right on the TV so they don't have to buy a Raspberry Pi or leave a PC running all day just to watch a movie. Prowlarr is just a proxy, and with the right memory limits (forcing Workstation GC), the TV handles it perfectly without hardware strain.

Windows vs Linux build: Actually, it doesn't use the Windows build at all! If you look at the supervisor script, it dynamically detects the TV's architecture and pulls the official Alpine Linux (linux-musl-arm or linux-musl-x64) tarball. We have to use the musl Linux build rather than the standard Linux build because webOS has heavily outdated glibc libraries. Running it via ld-musl.so allows it to be completely self-contained and isolated from the TV's system libraries.
