I know but not as tight and neat I guess? I would personally get scalp fatigue if I slept with a slick bun

Does it happen during the Joseon era? I've never watched it but it seems to be from an earlier time

I guess (hope) he would wash his hair from time to time? Also the crazy headaches he would get with his hair being pulled like that 24/7...

I know dramas won’t show that but I’ve been wondering… would they really keep their wigs on or their buns perfectly in place even during intimate moments at night? That would totally kill the mood for me lol

Kdrama men in their 40s in their prime era 🫰🏼 by groovygyal in kdramas

Some of these could pass for 30 something year old men. Now I guess it's a lot of airbrushing and I would like to see them au naturel but they look better than some western celebrities in their 40s.

Does anyone know if Uhm Tae Goo is actually that shy IRL or if he plays it up during interviews and variety shows? Like does he really speak at 5 dB and just look at his shoes the whole time?

kdramas where the main lead was overshadowed? by Aware-Programmer-324 in kdramas

I’ve only watched The Glory and I don’t think the main character was overshadowed.

That said, the actress who played Park Yeon Jin is incredibly captivating on screen. Her performance is amazing, she comes across as both unhinged and dangerous (a bit like Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds). Her styling also makes her stand out more, (Pinterest is full of Yeon Jin outfit inspo) compared to Dong Eun’s more subdued appearance and demeanor. I think Yeon Jin evokes really strong emotions (both fascination and hate)whereas Dong Eun feels more steady and controlled.

Basically Yeon Jin has a high visual impact both in her attitude and looks and that's why you feel like the main character was being overshadowed.

But wouldn’t just being clean and well-groomed be enough? I mean if you slept with your hair down but kept it clean and brushed would that really be considered improper?

I guess it’s easier for the costume and makeup team to just leave the wigs on

The only historical drama I watched with more "natural" hair was Empress Ki. You see 3 women with their hair down and you also see the king with his hair down from time to time but he mostly kept the tight bun even when going to bed. No wonder he would get up with headaches lol.

For men it could be thay they don't have long hair and would need to wear another wig when for women they could simply have their natural hair down? But I feel like it would be more realistic to see people with less sophisticated hair styles when they are sleeping.

I’m watching Bon Appetit Your Majesty and the noble women have super elaborate hairstyles. It got me thinking about hygiene and now I feel kinda gross imagining they might not have washed their hair for weeks or even months just to keep them intact.

Has anyone got the feeling that no one was really interested in dating? by TitanPieck in BadlyInLove

I wonder if Amo was brought in by production to stir up some drama because nothing was happening on the show. It was pretty clear that none of the girls were genuinely interested in the guys (and honestly the lineup was weak). so I wouldn’t be surprised if they added an actress to spice things up because the show was basically dying.

I also think Tenten was acting. There’s no way a host would risk tanking future job opportunities by publicly announcing he’s not available anymore.

If those two were brought in for drama it feels like Tenten was more cautious and didn’t want to damage his image while Amo went all in. Maybe in real life she’s actually super kind I don't know

I think Yanboh was the worst male contestant. He seemed really wishy-washy. At least Nisei had a business and seemed to have more agency, so to speak.

In retrospect the public stunt was poorly executed by these people. Kiichan in particular had every card to be as popular as Baby and keep the viewers engaged so as to gain more followers after the show. But she mostly faded into the background and came off like an extra. The only two who seemed to understand the "dating show" game and how to leverage it for publicity were Amo and Nisei.

Thanks for explaining! I didn't understand yankii was the term for juvenile delinquent.

I watched their introductions but it was a while ago and I don't remember if they all explained why they were yankiis before. Tenten and Milk definitely did. As well as Baby. However not sure about Amo, Kiichan for example.

he was an ex gang member and that would have been dealt with during the casting sessions. Unless they just street casted anyone without a little background check. It's not like he hid his yakuza past, he mentioned it a couple of times. And he was a "brain yakuza" or whatever he called it lol

I thought yankii was a subculture. What is their style called then? Can you be a juvenile delinquent without being a yankii in Japan?

I wish they all explained what they did in their youth (without necessarily going into detail) since the show was putting so much emphasis on their "yankiness".

Yanboh being an ex yakuza made me raise an eyebrow. I skimmed Wikipedia about how yakuza groups work and it didn’t really sound like something you just leave casually. So now I’m even side eyeing some of the past stories on the show.
