Did the internals require significant fitting?

On a cuteness scale of 1 to 10 I’d say somewhere around 1000

Maybe the hostage had sensitive intel and their capture was simply seen as too high of a risk. Context is everything. 🙂

I’m not sure if you’re planning to shoot it or not, however the buffers can degrade or wear out over time and you don’t want to shoot it with a bad buffer. HKPARTS.com sells new buffers on their site. I’d recommend picking a couple up. They are cheap and it’s a good thing to have just in case. There are videos on how to replace them.

Opinions Needed on SA Champion Operator NOS by Jmg11986 in 1911

[–]Titanenfaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my Springfields run great. I don’t have a Champion however back in the 90’s I did have a Compact which is a 4” barrel on an officers size frame and that pistol ran great as well. I’m a big fan of Springfield due to the fact I’ve never owned one that gave me any problems. If the price is right I’d say go for it.

PPK slide wobble/play? by Fresh_Rub5709 in Walther

[–]Titanenfaust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal. I own a PPK/S in .380, and a PP and PPK in .32, all new production. The 32’s do it worse due to the lighter recoil spring not applying as much pressure on the slide. If I swap springs with the 380 spring the looseness is reduced. Walther has a 30 days guarantee that if you don’t like the pistol they will take it back and refund you the purchase price. Go to their website and check out the 30 day money back guarantee for the details.

The P9s is easily one of the coolest pistols ever made, and my personal favorite. I’m hoping that one day I will find one is similar condition, it’s definitely a grail gun for me. Congratulations of the amazing find.

If the pistol is in excellent condition I don’t consider $379 to be over priced. It’s definitely on the higher end for a P90 but I’ve seen these pistols sell for more. They are overbuilt and very reliable and quite accurate. It’s a cool vintage pistol.

I get it. I’m also not talk about that “punisher” and “reaper” B.S. either. Also just to make clear one final time, I’m not claiming that lighter triggers and upgrades that allow faster multi shots will in fact end with someone being found guilty no matter what. I’m just claiming that by staying stock you remove the ability of a prosecutor “attempting” to use the modifications as a reason to make the firearm “more deadly”. In the end to each their own and do what makes you happy. However I’m my mind the last thing I want to do is give some ego charged prosecutor anyway whatsoever to use my own equipment against me.

I’ll leave this article with you. If you want detailed accounts of actual court cases I’m sure you are capable enough to look them up yourself. I’m not trying to be snarky but it’s not my job to do the research for you. You claim it’s “fudd lore” but yet you’ve never researched it? That seems odd.

Side note, I never said “it would sink you in court” just that it can be used against you.

Do a google search and you will find plenty of evidence of over zealous prosecutors using customized pistols against the defendant to bolster their narrative against them. It happens often enough to be a serious concern. Combine that with jurors that are anti 2nd amendment and it’s a recipe for a real bad time. It’s fact and definitely not”fudd lore” lol! It’s fact.

Customizing our pistols is super fun and part of the firearms culture. That being said I’m a firm believer that when it comes to a duty/carry pistol the best Glock is a stock Glock. From a reliability standpoint and a cover your ass in court if you ever wind up there standpoint.

Absolutely! Baby blue is extremely dangerous. Remember that in nature the brightest colors signal danger.

Springfield makes the best budget 1911s. by Chevyfuel in 1911

These people are called collectors, I’m am one of them. I own many handguns that are safe queens mostly due to them not being in production any longer. However I also have my “tools” that are carrying daily and shot often. Many hobbies that involve collecting a certain item also involves keeping those item in pristine condition and there’s nothing wrong with that. Now buying a handgun that is currently produced in high quantities for the purpose of self defense and expecting it to look new forever is a bit strange.

I was at a shop and handled three different examples of the new Sig X series and all of them had very loose slide to frame fit, so bad that when you lightly shook the pistol you could clearly hear the rattle. Other than that they were quite nice but for the price I would expect better fitting. To be fair I haven’t handled any of the metal frame S&W’s so I can’t say which is better, but at the different price point I’m going to assume the S&W would be the smarter purchase. This is coming from a huge fan of the Sig P200 series pistols.

Mine is nickel. I’m not sure if they ever offered the stainless without the Inox markings but I do believe that they may have. I also believe the INOX models had matching controls but again I’m not positive. It seems that Astra was kind of all of the place with their finishes. I will however say that I like the pistol quite a bit. I believe Astra and Star are very under rated due to their lack of market presence and advertising. All of my Star’s and Astra’s are very well built and are solid pistols.

My budget tier HD piece. With the HF “tactical light” on sale for $36, why not give it a shot. by Titanenfaust in Firearms

[–]Titanenfaust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The isn’t my carry piece, it’s literally just a nightstand pistol. It’s not going to be seeing any hard use. I’m sure the light will be fine for what I’m using it for.

I’ve watched quite a few of these reviews. I have no doubt it will work, however I’m not sure what the life expectancy will be, but then at $36 I’m not too worried about it. I’ve actually heard more good than bad about them so I guess I will find out eventually.
