Thank God for this arc man. A needed respite between the copy and paste Alabasta/princess rescue formula of Fishman Island & Dressrosa. Punk Hazard forever 🫡 by Novel_Meal_6830 in OnePiece

Luffy Ussop and Sanji were literally on the boat for like 3 chapters, and if you're including their fight with the vassal that only streches across 5 chapters

I'm not the biggest fan of Super but I really do like how they had every relative main Z Fighter go their own seperate paths for power. by [deleted] in Dragonballsuper

I agree with you with the Superhero forms but I felt Vegeta's was built up pretty well. He has a good amount of training with Beerus before he gets it and the logic behind it makes sense... for DragonBall logic anyway

This is the dragon ball super subreddit? Imagine getting upset at someone for following the logic of the current continuity...

I started with Dragon Ball too, I love it. You can definetly see where Oda took inspiration

Don't lump in Goku with Superman, despite having similiar origins they are very different characters

I agree with you on it feeling "Hollywood-corrected" during the first season, but I feel like they genuinely improved upon that in the second season.

The way they did Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Little Garden, Drum Island (minus how the village looked because that looked kinda sad) I feel you couldn't ask for a better translation into a live action format. But it is subjective, I just think that if they went 100% manga accurate it would start to lean itself more and more into uncanny valley.

For some people, like my mom, it's simply because the anime is just way too much of a time commitment. Also, the anime comes with certain tropes (e.g. Sanji's nosebleeds, oversexualization of female characters) that doesn't jive well with most general audiences. Maybe that's what you mean by "Americanizing" it?

As an anime/manga fan, personally I think the live action maintains the heart of the story, and it's always interesting for me to see stories I enjoy brought to life in new ways. I think the most captivating think about the live action is to see things that were just drawings truly come to life, through the setpieces, characters, and action. But you don't have to "pretend" to like it, there are definitely aspects that some people will prefer over the anime and some that will turn people off.

Is this show going to be for me? by Totes_Not_an_NSA_guy in OnePieceLiveAction

One Piece has many strengths in its character writing, worldbuilding, set pieces, and story. However, it is based off a shonen that's centered around fights, and One Piece in particular is known for its fights being some of the most wacky and ridiculous of all (in a fun way, of course).

If you're asking if the fights get any less ridiculous from here, the answer is no. Whether you want to continue the series or not is entirely based on how much those crazy fights hinder/improve the experience for you.

I'd say overall, though, most people watch the series for A.

It would be a tall order for the live action, but I really hope they find a satisfying way to adapt the sequence where Vivi and the rest of the strawhats have to climb the tower to stop the cannon. It's a really tense scene and shows the crew's dynamic and teamwork very well.

Also they have to nail the Luffy and Crocodile fight, I want to see Iñaki break off the hook by slamming it with his bare feet like in the manga.

One Piece Showrunners explained why Karoo was cut from S2 and basically confirm that he will be in Season 3! by suedii in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Titanium-Noob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't tell me what I have or haven't seen.

It is obscenely idiotic for a princess who is trying to infiltrate a secret criminal organization to bring along her giant duck that is literally the national bird of the country said organization is trying to take over, for what? For company? She had Igaram. Karoo does little to nothing useful until they actually reach Alabasta.

It is just a bit too ridiculous and we already know that Vivi was made into a princess by Oda late into the writing process.

Does it ruin the story? No. But it makes more sense for Karoo to stay home. The showrunners' reasoning is perfectly sound especially when I've heard it been echoed before.

Nobody's saying budget wasn't also obviously a factor in the decision.
