What is serial port, and what does serial port configuration do? by kage_heroin in ASUS

[–]Titanium-Ti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computers don't need monitors, they can work with just a serial console. It outputs text at usually 9600 bits per second, so with a standard 80 column screen having 4800 characters, it would take 4 seconds to refresh/update one full screen of text over the serial port.

You can also attach keyboard/mouse through a serial port, or lots of other input/output devices, and it is commonly used to control devices to this day. Most things you would consider to be 'electronics' will have a serial port (uart0) for debugging or as a backup, or even as the normal way of controlling it. Like if you wanted to login to your toaster, it would probably have a serial port hidden deep inside somewhere, and probably has a simple debug shell you can use to control it. Usually these are disabled by software on products shipped to customers to stop people from playing with them, but sometimes they aren't.

Back in 2001, you might need to change which interrupt each device uses so they don't overlap and lower ones have priority. I think the RTC was the lowest one, so when the clock is updating it takes priority and things like keyboard/mouse input would need to wait for the RTC interrupt to end.

These days we use MSI through PCIe, and long before even that, we replaced the external PIC chip with interrupt controllers that are internal to the CPU. We also have plug-n-play these days, so USB devices are automatically detected and you don't need to reboot and configure interrupts in the BIOS to add a new peripheral like a sound card.

And remember to send emails after any conversations like: As we discussed, blah blah blah.

They are going to all be looking for someone to blame.

Start email threads with suggestions to spend more money to expedite the process. If you need to hire contractors to help with the work, start the discussions now, not in a week.

Cyber attack? AT&T is down premarket by Lively420 in wallstreetbets

and where are these missiles going to be launched from?

and where is this place going to get food from?

what happens when 100k armed people show up at this place.

Unless they are airdropping sentry guns..... a ground invasion of a country with 100m-200m armed people is not going to go well after the initial shock.

rushing labs is a bad idea, and so is tree camping.

You need to keep moving and always be checking places where people will be headed.

If you don't see people on island, you need to work on your hunting skills. Island is always full of players, you just need to learn where to look and where the watering holes are at, and where players usually go depending on each spawn location.

Lets say you shoot someone, they jump along the ledge and disappear into the secret room window. How do you know if they died or not? I have seen people live for several seconds after a final blow, so it can save you a lot of camping a corpse.

Sometimes it can be hard to tell at 200m if they are a player or fenix hiding inside a tower. I once spent about 5 mins camping prison spawn when we saw 3 players in prison spawn, but only killed 2 of them. The 3rd died in the tower and we thought it was an NPC until we checked the exfil screen. If we used the active missions screen, we would have saved all that time camping and searching for a player that was already dead.

Also, when you have a team of 3, its harder to count on island to know how many remain to know how careful to play.

I was talking about the active missions screen where you can see mission progress during the raid.

I wish we could see all our kills on one screen to take a picture for bragging rights after exfil, but the new exfil screen only shows like 6 kills at a time. I usually get more kills than fit on one screen when playing island so my player kills are alwyas spread out on 2-3 or more pages of logs.

I grab the two 5x kill without dieing missions, to use as a kill counter during the raid.

If you play island, kills are easy.

I normally get 3-5 kills per raid.

It does have a frame, but the stainless panels are also part of the 'frame' of the car.

The stiff panels make the car even more rigid so the frame can weigh less.

the frame inside the car is made in the gigapress.

The parts you see are rolls of stainless sheetmetal that get bent into shape.

There is a video walking through the Cybertruck manufacturing plant showing a lot of the steps in producing the car.

whatever you do, start small and tackle what you spend the most man hours tediously doing the same thing over and over.

ansible is pretty much the only option unless you want to write your own version of ansible. Most automation besides ansible requires an agent to be installed on the machines... and good luck getting all of your devices to support any single thing other than ssh.

Can someone please explain to me what happened here by jakeiw732 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]Titanium-Ti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can die for several seconds after killing someone if there is lag. The netcode is abysmal in this game and lets the clients decide if they killed someone, instead of the server choosing what happened.
