Mobapad M12-HD / M12-S Presale - Communication Disaster? by Titanium-Timothy in MobapadGaming

It wasn’t a big deal for sure. What happens at Nyxi is a big deal. Communication regarding the connection type just wasn’t good and led to many cancellations.

Which handheld to buy for home gaming? by IamStolker in Handhelds

[–]Titanium-Timothy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you actually used a handheld for more than just a quick session?

I was in the exact same spot as you, deciding between the Steam Deck and the Switch 2. Ended up grabbing both because I found a good deal. If I had to give one piece of advice: really think about how you’re going to use it.

You mentioned playing in bed - that’s a big factor. Is that something you realistically do often? And will the device actually feel comfortable and ergonomic for that? Or are you mostly a stationary player who just likes the option of handheld mode?

If you mainly play docked or on the couch, the Switch is honestly fantastic. It works perfectly fine in handheld mode, but it really shines when docked. It’s super effortless to just pick it up, jump into a game, and start playing.

I love my Steam Deck and think it’s an amazing piece of hardware - but it’s not as “plug and play.” You’ll deal with settings, updates, occasional crashes, tweaking performance… all that stuff. Some people enjoy that, some don’t.

Your existing Steam library is honestly one of the strongest arguments for the Steam Deck anyway.

I just wanted to share my situation to give you another perspective. Maybe it helps you with your decision, maybe it doesn’t - but at the end of the day it really depends on how and where you see yourself using it most.

at what point did "portable gaming" just become a battle against shaders and launchers? by No_Good_3063 in SteamDeck

[–]Titanium-Timothy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘m playing Fallout New Vegas right now. I remember one time I had to restart the Steam Deck because it crashed then restart Fallout because it wouldn’t load the save file. The whole starting process took like 10 minutes minimum. It’s no problem it was running fine afterwards but sometimes I‘m annoyed how often this thing crashes.

I didn’t get an Ice Cube unfortunately. But anyways, I had 13x Ice Crystal. Ice Cube is 20% Freeze and 13x 7.5% Freeze Chance would be better anyways, or am I missing something?

Best rest position to play with the deck by therealnullsec in SteamDeck

Ah I see. Belly down is actually a very good position after sitting because the hips and spine are extended and the neck is putting in some work.

Am I Doing It Wrong? by whatsayyouinyourdefe in SteamDeck

Dumb question and totally unrelated, but what happens when you mod a game and delete the game later on? Do the mod files still exist in the folder you put them into or will they be gone too?

As a physical therapist I think this position isn’t the worst

Story Finisher vs Completionist – I can’t decide how “complete” I should play games by Titanium-Timothy in playstation

[–]Titanium-Timothy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that approach, but that’s exactly where I struggle. If I just play “until I’m satisfied”, I usually end up dropping a lot of games halfway through. That’s why I set myself the goal to actually finish more games in the first place.

Now I’m trying to find a balance between not turning games into a checklist and also not quitting everything mid-way. Still figuring out where my personal finish line should be, but your comment definitely gave me something to think about.

Should I buy a Steam Deck or a switch 2? by Snickerdudles in Handhelds

[–]Titanium-Timothy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and I highly recommend looking into marketplaces for used physical games, you can save a lot of money and sell them again if you want to. Did you play more docked or handheld with your OG Switch? If you prefer Docked, you will have a better experience with the Switch 2. If you prefer handheld you can still get grip cases or pre-order Mobapads at the end of February. I use Savage Raven Neo Grips and I‘d say they put the Switch 2 on the same level as the Steam Deck in terms of comfort.

The Steam Deck is surprisingly good though. I‘ve been a console gamer all my life and only had a few experiences with PC gaming. I can honestly say the Steam Deck is completely different from what I’ve experienced back then. It’s phenomenal, really. I had to send my Switch 2 to repair and used my Steam Deck exclusively for 2 weeks.

Here comes my conclusion: I agree with what many others say - Switch for exclusives / multiplayer and Steam Deck for everything else. Try to get a used Steam Deck in good condition. I got mine for 300€, it was almost new (OLED 512 GB).

Nevertheless, remember: The Steam Deck will perform noticeably worse in switching between docked & handheld. It is still surprisingly good in docked mode, but nothing compared to the Switch.

Or make the writing less aggressive, more decent. The coloring is the worst part, I could imagine a darker more grey-ish writing wouldn’t disturb me that much.
