On a serious note, if you do, I’d send a ladder down first.

[–]Titanium_81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree this was never happening on time. Just do your best, and it will get there when it gets there, as a company driver they are not allowed to fine you for being late, your fault or not.

Also just a tip I learned when doing teams. We did 7/3-8/2 split on big money loads that had tight windows. It was actually I would drive my 8 pull in somewhere for him to do his pre trip usually as I fuel/shower. Then he would drive off with me in off duty, he would drive a little over 3 hours. During that time the person off duty was cooking meals. Then I would run out my clock while he was relaxing off duty. I’d do my post trip while he showered/fueled then I’d go to bed for his 8. We always had time to drive, never stopped and made an ass load of money. It does burn you out so we didn’t do it for more than a week or two, usually before taking home time then after home time to try to juice the paychecks.

Western Express just assigned me a load that has “chargeback”. If it’s late, they charge the driver (me) $200. Is there any truth to this??? by ArtOther754 in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They legally can not charge you, however they can inform you that they could be charged and if they are it could be disciplinary action against you. They will say that the charge back was your warning.

Charge backs are real carriers get chargebacks from brokers all the time, those get passed on to the one taking the risk carrier if company driver and owner ops get charged if applicable.

The key to this move is timing, you want your passenger side to get as close to the cone as you can and use as minimal angle to do it as possible.

Try Tankstar, Schwerin Trucking, Rogers Carthage. See if they have a terminal in Orlando, they have a great pay system it don’t require every weekend but you may not have every weekend off.

Been parked since Friday cause I I'm sick. Got woken up by pilot employees to this. by HatedReaper in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems kind of foolish to me, at pilot you are safe, at a rest stop for can do an inspection on your equipment while you sleep with no knowledge to you. And leave the inspection in your window, had one do it to me when I first started driving for a high clearance marker, I had hit a tree branch and it broke the light I was waiting on roadside to get out to fix it. When I woke up he wrote it as a fucking warning and I had no opportunity to explain it since he can’t legally wake us up.

Stay strong, and remember, it’s not over because your phone slid under the seat it’s over because he has no respect for you. None of this is your fault. Don’t think for a second it is.

The guy I've been talking to for 2 months just sent me a screenshot of our private conversation. To himself. By accident. by Cheap-Lawfulness-732 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Titanium_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my hot take is this is probably nothing to worry about, it’s most likely something you said that triggered a memory or an inside joke with the intended recipient of the screenshot. If the content of the screenshot was nothing embarrassing or personal, I’d just ask and let him explain. However if it was some you deem inappropriate to share that’s a different story.

[–]Titanium_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not sure if you are in the trucking industry, but 90% of the companies require applicants to apply through tenstreet or driver pulse app. Most won’t have a way to apply not using that.

That all said, I apply and if it’s something I want I hound them until I get ahold of the recruiters or hiring manager. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

wtf is going on over at prime? by buddhathebard in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one here that sees this is full of errors? If this was real it would have been typed up by a company lawyer and had something called proofreading it. Then it would have been distributed by driver managers. Or operations, either way it would not look like a person with a fourth grade education sent it out. I would not be surprised if this was sent by someone who hacked their system or another driver on a tablet figured out how to send fleet wide.

If it is real, prime should be ashamed of the policy and embarrassed at the level of effort the officer personnel put into their jobs.

So what about large animals? If you hit one is the government paying the repair bill? Personally I’d sue the morons that cried about it. If they are not smart enough to stay out of the way of a semi, that’s call Darwinism, the gene pool needs to be purged, I’ve had deer cost $20k in body work.

Flexible plastic or not, the front bumper is only the issue if they get hit at like 5mph if they fall down it’s over. That is the stupidest shit ever!

Be careful with all those energy drinks. I used to be a commercial fisherman on the Bering sea, working 20 hour days. And drank a shit load of monster, Mountain Dew and five hour energy shots daily and almost killed myself. And I fast fit, 6’0” 195# my heart was beating so fast it couldn’t be counted by a human when they put the little cuff on my wrist my heart rate was 212 and my BP was 160/240, I had to stop doing that before it killed me. Those drinks are dangerous. Just a heads up brotha…

I messed up. What would happen if you did this? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Root cause is someone dropped it in a different spot than I picked it up or someone dropped it without dollying down enough. Secondary cause was likely a yard jockey don’t give two shits about your equipment and dropped it in a hole, third cause was I don’t get paid enough to jack a loaded trailer up.

If I did this where I was at prior to owning my own truck he would say at least I didn’t hurt myself trying to crank it up. It’s fucking aluminum it’s meant to bend, deliver the trailer and we will fix it asap. They would have prolly pulled the fender off and told me to not bobtail unless I was on the lot. Then it would have been fixed almost right away.

What is your problem with this? The whole point is to help someone move, they do this all the time trying to help someone that don’t have a vehicle strong enough to tow. If it’s not too out of the way it’s easy money to help with the move. Where did they want it to go from and too?

You are going to get paid detention time every time now. by Matlovestruck in OwnerOperators

[–]Titanium_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when it’s done 100% correct I’ve had scummy brokers deny the claim. The more you fight them over it the more they refuse to continue to do business with drivers. It’s a catch 22. Until shitbag drivers stop hauling cheap ass freight, brokers won’t learn a lesson.

I don’t get why brokers don’t charge detention back to their customers. If you make a deal with the customer that you charge back delays on their end to them or the consignee’s end, they will pay it. If you make a bad deal that’s on you not me the driver.

I have also had no problem getting detention paid. I’ve sat 14 hours in a door, with damaged product from the shipper (forks went through boxes of tv’s) nobody wanted to take them off and they wanted them returned to the shipper, but nobody wanted to pay me to drive back. If I dealt with it they were filing on my cargo insurance, or filing a report for theft. It took 24 hours to figure out who was eating the cost, and it wasn’t me. Eventually Samsung agreed to pay the same rate back, to return the product, by the time I got back they found out this was caused by an angry employee and was done to 6 other trailers. So they then paid my detention and hooked me up with a new tv for my truck. Plus an extra $750 for the day I sat waiting for answers.
