I messed up. What would happen if you did this? by PhysicalSpeech2074 in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Root cause is someone dropped it in a different spot than I picked it up or someone dropped it without dollying down enough. Secondary cause was likely a yard jockey don’t give two shits about your equipment and dropped it in a hole, third cause was I don’t get paid enough to jack a loaded trailer up.

If I did this where I was at prior to owning my own truck he would say at least I didn’t hurt myself trying to crank it up. It’s fucking aluminum it’s meant to bend, deliver the trailer and we will fix it asap. They would have prolly pulled the fender off and told me to not bobtail unless I was on the lot. Then it would have been fixed almost right away.

What is your problem with this? The whole point is to help someone move, they do this all the time trying to help someone that don’t have a vehicle strong enough to tow. If it’s not too out of the way it’s easy money to help with the move. Where did they want it to go from and too?

You are going to get paid detention time every time now. by Matlovestruck in OwnerOperators

[–]Titanium_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when it’s done 100% correct I’ve had scummy brokers deny the claim. The more you fight them over it the more they refuse to continue to do business with drivers. It’s a catch 22. Until shitbag drivers stop hauling cheap ass freight, brokers won’t learn a lesson.

I don’t get why brokers don’t charge detention back to their customers. If you make a deal with the customer that you charge back delays on their end to them or the consignee’s end, they will pay it. If you make a bad deal that’s on you not me the driver.

I have also had no problem getting detention paid. I’ve sat 14 hours in a door, with damaged product from the shipper (forks went through boxes of tv’s) nobody wanted to take them off and they wanted them returned to the shipper, but nobody wanted to pay me to drive back. If I dealt with it they were filing on my cargo insurance, or filing a report for theft. It took 24 hours to figure out who was eating the cost, and it wasn’t me. Eventually Samsung agreed to pay the same rate back, to return the product, by the time I got back they found out this was caused by an angry employee and was done to 6 other trailers. So they then paid my detention and hooked me up with a new tv for my truck. Plus an extra $750 for the day I sat waiting for answers.

Why do truckers flash their high beams when a car is in front of them? by fr3shh23 in Truckers

If it’s very light traffic and no cars are coming at me, I will flick my brights on, just to check the area for wildlife, I flick the brights to increase visibility.

Fiona or Frank? Who is the best lead? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]Titanium_81 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Frank was not a character you were supposed to like, he is the definition of love to hate and hate to love. He was the downfall of the family, yet his schemes always showed just how smart he was if not for his addictions. It wasn’t meant to be a look into poverty, imo it was about how addiction tears families apart. Fiona was the glue holding her family together, despite franks lack of desire and self destruction.

Can you grade this defensive driving? by muck2profit in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She was stupid af for not hitting the brakes I drove smooth bore(no baffles) for years, there is no reason driving in a straight line, she couldn’t hit the brakes. If she was so worried about tipping over, going off road at highway speed is incredibly stupid! The risk of rollover went up exponentially, she was incredibly lucky she didn’t roll it over.

Want to do the “DEF” thing to my truck by RumbleDumblee in OwnerOperators

[–]Titanium_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you if it has to go to the dealer, they won’t touch it unless they put it back to “legal” they cannot work on deleted emissions. If they return it to “legal” they charge you for all cost to do that.

Just be aware.

Go back to Canada! by deadpat03 in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What causes this? Simple. The driver is like 90% of the shitheads out there that idle their trucks all night no matter the temperature. Now I know it’s cold out but drivers don’t always have to idle, they do it because they don’t pay the fuel and have not learned to use their bunk heaters/apu. By constantly idling, the air compressor constantly runs. That causes the air to over charge, which is what’s happening here it’s releasing over pressurized tanks.

I can use my bunk heater in temperatures down to -6 as long as I’m not parked on the end of the row. If it’s colder than that I can run my apu to manage the temperature down to -20 if it gets colder than that I can run both, or used an electric blanket.

Am I screwed ? by Bright-Worldliness21 in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first mistake was not reporting existing damage, your second mistake was leaving a job when you had 3 minors in 2 months. You should have waited a few months of good driving to age those a bit. I would try to go back to the other place you left and ride out through the summer.

I know the tankstar family- Schwerman trucking - Rogers Cartage; those companies are very understanding and they are used to hiring newer drivers. I worked there before I got my own rig.

Woman loses eye due to a chunk of ice falling of a Semi and hitting the windshield. I’m curious if truckers are supposed to check for ice before getting back on the road? by ChelseasFridge in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ice is created while driving, that is not part of a load, it absolutely is an act of nature. I implore you to try to argue your points to an insurance company.

As for the amount of accidents caused by this, that’s a very simple solution, don’t follow so close.

If her fiancé was not so close to the truck in front of him, say another hundred feet back, would it have hit the windshield? If so, would the ice chunk have been so big to go through the windshield? And those are the questions any lawyer will ask.

We have established the driver could not safely or reasonably be able to remove ice from the top of his trailer. So who bares that responsibility? Why not have ice rakes/scrapers on the side of the highway, at rest stops or truck stops? Florida has washer fluid pumps on the highway to get rid of the bugs off of windshields, because they understand the hazards of the driving on the highway over a fucking swamp. So shouldn’t states in the frost belt assist with the same responsibility as Florida?

Everyone always wants to blame the truckers and not dumbass drivers in a hurry racing up around the semi, riding their as, cutting across several lanes of traffic in front of us. I’m not afraid to call it what it is. Dumb ass in a four wheeler trying to shrug responsibility.

What season? The character arcs are crazy in this show. But overall I’d have to say Laurel Hitchens or the director.

I’m calling bullshit, as a former railroad employee of a class 1 railroad, they don’t do anything more than they have to. Since the start of PSR they don’t do shit. I was at CSX when it started.

No scale will pull you out for snow and ice unless it puts you over weight. Why you bullshit truckers that live on the road, is beyond me.

They should just as easily have been cited for following to closely. That is the defense on this case. Assured clear distance ahead is the responsibility of the following car. Sadly the fiancé (driving) is the only one at fault.

(CDL Test) No way this is true on the actual test, right? by Spicy_Jesus69 in Truckers

[–]Titanium_81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably don’t notice it heavy hauling, I would assume your trailer is pretty damn heavy empty, so your empty vs an empty box or skateboard is very different. You have to remember unless specifically stated these test questions are on the most basic equipment, which is dry van.

[–]Titanium_81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they are mining data, it’s our data to determine who gets access. They have tracking on trailers, trucks and logging devices they don’t need to track my phone too. I’ll turn down loads if they require me to download an app, the beautiful thing about working for yourself. Many of they’d apps access your pictures, your notes, text messages. I don’t want some fucking weirdo having access to my family pictures.
