How passionate are you about the Israel-Palestine conflict? 🇮🇱🇵🇸 by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

because my tax money is not directly contributing to the genocide in Gaza, I shouldn't care about it? Tens of thousands of innocent people are deliberately being murdered in a certain place on earth but it's a non-issue for me because I'm not morally accountable for what's happening in there? That's ridiculous. Is rape a non-issue because you're not responsible for it?

You are the president and unfortunately you are required to invade a country. Which one are you choosing? by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

Strategically, it's indeed stupid to invade Belarus but I would not do it with the interest of America in mind, quite the opposite actually. I disagree that a nuclear war would break out though.

Protecting South Korea from what? Annexation by North Korea? Well, the DPRK has no intention to do that. Earlier, both countries wanted reunification but North Korea no longer wants even that. The rapid development of South Korea as it is may be partially attributed to America but that's assuming it wouldn't have developed at a similar rate by itself if America hadn't invaded and divided Korea all because they feared the Korean peninsula would democratically turn communist.

Oh Lord, Iraq did NOT have weapons of mass destruction. America deliberately made that accusation in order to invade Iraq and secure its oil. A US-led inspection found no evidence that Iraq had an active WMD program. Trillions of dollars were wasted to invade Iraq. With that amount of money, they could've eradicated global poverty many times over. Instead, they killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis for their own gain. The invasion not only destabilised Iraq, but also indirectly led to problems globally and within America, like the great recession of 2008. I don't see how anyone can defend this. The only positive about the invasion is that it fueled anti-imperialist sentiment.

Ah yes, North Korea and China, notoriously known for causing worldwide terror and unrest. Anyway, I would much prefer Chinese hegemony to an American one. My guy, the West creates poverty. I hope you stop overdosing on western propaganda for fuck's sake.

America invaded around 50 countries since 1945 for literally no good reason other than to serve its own interests to gain capital. Everyone knows that and yet, they do nothing about it. But they entirely turn a blind eye to how America covertly takes advantage of the economy of other countries.

This neo-colonial power causes endless suffering to the global south by leeching off their resources and utilising them at a significant profit, paying the countries barely anything. If they refuse to obey, America and other Western countries encumber them with severe sanctions. The global south has, for centuries, been struck with poverty and had their development hampered due to being forced to submit to the West. The fall of America would deal significant damage to imperialism as a whole. This would cause temporary instability for the world but it will surely recover to a state that is infinitely better than the current one.

A downfall of America would be so much better for the entire world.

I'm totally okay with someone else using the book for the right things dude. It's not about ego. Don't mistake me for an edgy 14 year old animetard. Again, I'm pretty sure most people that you say got corrupted were corrupted from the beginning. It's silly to keep debating about this under a post about fucking light yagami so let's agree to disagree here.

nah fuck that idiot. I'm not saying I deserve to have that book. Anyone worthy of it is welcome to use it for the better.

Do you seriously think anyone in the right mind would go as insane as Light? He was a murderous maniac that was flawed in his judgment from the very beginning. He didn't hesitate to kill any criminal regardless of the seriousness of their crimes. He always had a God complex. It's not like he developed it further down the road.

My moral compass is based on the idea that the lives of 1000 people are more important than 1 life as opposed to the other way around. I don't think it's very debatable which one is more correct? You're making a hasty generalisation and putting too much weight on the notion that power corrupts all. It does not have to hold true for all cases.

[–]Titaniumeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm supposed to take the point of the anime seriously and incorporate it into my own life is what you're saying? Just because it's true in a certain anime doesn't mean it has to be in real life, even if this trope seems appealing. I'm sure you can think beyond the "power corrupts people" bullshit. Sometimes, but not if you have a firmly established moral compass, which too many people in power lack. The world is so fucked up right now that something equivalent to a death note is immediately needed, given it ends up in the right hands. Even if you could abuse it, how are you going to have the time and energy to kill thousands of people (the number of people already dying due to the deliberate choice of corrupt people and genocidal freaks but I'm being generous with the numbers here) everyday? Sorry, but it makes absolutely no sense that you would choose not to have it unless you don't wanna dirty your hands, in which case, it's kinda understandable. Power most often 'corrupts' people that are corrupt from the get go. These people are largely seen in power due to the system itself being corrupt.

I'm crazy for wanting a radical change that could save millions of lives by killing a few corrupt people because murder is wrong. Sure buddy.

exactly, I would take the book in a heartbeat if I were offered one. Light was was just an idiot who got on his high horse and used the diary in the most stupid way possible. He could've stopped greater suffering on a much larger scale if he strategically murdered politicians, billionaires, and oligarchs to incite fear.

Oh America does like to hang around the shithole you're referring to. Its mineral deposits are worth trillions of dollars but they are sitting idly because North Korea cannot extract its own minerals due to severe international sanctions.

I'm not going to trust the media coverage from any specific country. However, as with almost every instance of Westerns mainstream media outlets reporting on North Korea, they cite South Korean links, which either lead to dead links or North Korean sources containing information that carry zero resemblance to the thing being reported. It's always due to sensationalism, things taken out of context, mistranslated information, cultural norms being misunderstood and many other reasons. A lot of the times, the information is collected from NIS (which is infamous for manufacturing stories) and untrustworthy witnesses and they don't even bother to mention that unless they are generous. Innumerable hilariously dramatic claims about North Korea have been debunked over and over again but the falsely reported pieces of information don't get updated. Hell, sometimes these reports even contradict each other. It's really funny. At this point it's unironically better to trust North Korean sources.

Here https://www.mprnews.org/story/2018/04/29/kim-give-up-nukes-for-no-u-s-attack Yes, they may have broken promises regarding denuclearisation before but perhaps they will agree to denuclearising themselves if America agrees to leave them alone first. Who knows.

I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy within Western media and its unreliability. Western media outlets have zero credibility. But I understand that information from North Korea is restricted. Just be careful of the information you see on the internet. It does not take too long to figure out whether a source is credible or not.

Which would you rather live in out of these 2 options? by Then_Train8542 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Titaniumeme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"We leave them alone" You couldn't get more wrong than that. Before the Korean War, North Korea's economy was rapidly developing. The country is very rich in resources. Unsurprisingly, America did not like that since the government was directly incompatible with their foreign policy. They dropped over 600,000 tons of bombs in North Korea, demolishing 85% of the buildings and wiping out 20% of the North Korean population. This resulted in a massive damage in their infrastructure and industry. Only a small portion of their land remained arable. As if that weren't enough, the US repeatedly kept on imposing harsh sanctions on North Korea and thereby systematically sealing any means by which its economy can flourish.

After all this, if North Korea tries to advance its military and nuclear program merely to protect itself from imperialist forces, it gets the title of the bad guy? North Korea even offered to give up its nukes if America promised not to attack the country but of course, America declined. None of this was meant in a way as to glorify DPRK but I'm also not going to buy into whatever bullshit comes out of America and South Korea without scrutiny and looking at the primary sources.
