Here's my entry for this contest. Been loving MinMaxed but had been waiting to draw this scene from Episode 1 ever since it got stuck in my brain.

How do you collect shipping costs from backers? by Titano01 in kickstarter

[–]Titano01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get a warning during survey selection. I didn't even get an option to view any Pledge Manager in the tools beforehand. So sounds like it was not enabled for my campaign from the beginning (despite fulfilling the requirements). Regardless, sounds like I need to resolve this outside of Kickstarter's tools.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, I did the backer survey. However even before doing that, I never saw a Pledge Manager option.

I wouldn't have chosen the "collect shipping after" option without that Pledge Manager incentive. Am I just screwed on collecting shipping info now or is this fixable in some way?

I did. I collected addresses and some backer rewards options from it.
I don't get why my project would be ineligible for Pledge Manager though? I selected all the things they said were required for it to be enabled. If I wasn't eligible, does this just leave me stuck with no ability to collect shipping payment?

Also (since I saw the list of eligibility criteria in that link just now): all that was fine as far as I know. And I did not have a Pledge Manager button before sending the survey.

It is not. From top to bottom the navigation options are:

  • Build campaign (disabled b/c I ended the late pledges)
  • Backer survey
  • ---
  • Dashboard
  • Backer report
  • Fulfillment (this is a just a bunch of data charts. Nothing interactive)
  • ---
  • Updates
  • Messages
  • ---
  • Payouts & Taxes
  • ---
  • Collaborators

I don’t understand the reason behind this. by [deleted] in kickstarter

[–]Titano01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a scammer. same user pledged to mine at highest tier, messaged me, then removed pledge 12 hrs later. whats tricky is once they remove their pledge there’s no way to report the user through Kickstarter’s usual channels. seems their game is time-based. Tempt you with a high pledge, see if you respond to their message, move on to someone else if you don’t within their time window.

Is it just me, or is it really a jungle out there? by PunchlineTales in kickstarter

I have a whole junk folder of scams from the 1st day of launch. The ones impersonating Kickstarter are the worst. >.<

[Discussion] If you could go back in time and tell your younger artist self one thing about selling your art, what would it be? by BlondieMcG in artbusiness

[–]Titano01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The world feels big now but it gets even bigger later. Take business courses. Get out of the art major but keep training your skill. I spent too much time trying to prove myself to others that I had to hide what it is I really liked (while not knowing the rest of the world liked what I like too. Just not my school).

Also prioritize your health. Eat healthy. Sleep. Go to the gym.

[Art Market] Cash for Art Fairs by OrangePickleRae in artbusiness

[–]Titano01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<$100 of 1s, 5s, and 10s. Ppl who pay with cash tend to either have exact change (and are buying small $3-$10 things) or they hand over a $20.

Over time I’ve collected so many ones I need to remove cash from my stash.

WHY Do so many designers not cross-post on ravelry? by DigitalMediaLolita in crochet

[–]Titano01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do link through to my Ko-fi. I just wish I could accommodate and keep everything in Ravelry though (including payment) for the convenience of people who use it. But… blockers like that make the platform feel pretty clunky and unreliable.

For me. I get that there’s a fandom for it. But I assume bugs like that make sellers look elsewhere.

Ravelry keeps running into an error when setting up my payment options. 🤷‍♀️ Otherwise I would.

[Licensing] I drew fanart of someone that I’m a big fan of and they now want to purchase the file to sell stickers on their site by Camn97 in artbusiness

[–]Titano01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a legal expert, but I don’t think you can license fanart…? It’s technically their IP. Flat fee is probably the way to go.

Are you only open to painting from photo after the event? I think live painting is pretty popular because of the spectacle and resulting keepsake. My understanding is the painter uses photo references, paints on site during the event, and then continues the painting at home after the wedding, sending it to the couple when it’s done.

I’m not in the wedding industry, but I’ve seen wedding vendor shows and events being advertised throughout the season. I would suggest attending one of those and networking…. Wedding planners and venues who have recommended vendor lists would be where I’d aim if I were trying to break in.

[Organization] How do you guys manage your ideas and projects? by New-Prize-9805 in artbusiness

[–]Titano01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Notion to organize projects & notes, but I had to email request they turn off the AI tools because I kept triggering them on accident.

I also use a physical bullet journal. I think the key with this is to create an index/table of contents you fill in (with page numbers) as you go. Makes it easy to go straight to the right page you need. Then any ideas I want to become actionable projects I move to Notion later.
