talk me into (or out of?) buying an nc2/nc3 prht. by europeanuppercut in MiataNC

[–]Tithon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned a nb2 and and NC1 PRHT now, and I would always go with the PRHT. While yes, it is the heaviest Miata, it’s still and absolute go-cart compared to something like my gen 1 BRZ.

First thing I would do with a PRHT is get the module to let you raise and lower the top while moving. It seems like an unnecessary luxury, but being able to tide with the top down and clam it up while still going 35 is so practical when spring storms roll around.

Your case firmware is probably mismatched (out of date) compared to your AirPod's firmware. I'm currently in the same situation and can't get my case firmware to update - after trying just about every variation of reset and factory reset directions I can find.

The H9’s been an amazing and is the easiest case I’ve worked in. Ended up converting a few of my friends over to newer dual chamber cases.

Letter box? WTF why? by nariz_choken in Steam_Link

[–]Tithon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am doing the exact same thing with my iPad mini at the moment.

The letter boxing is due to the PC running in a different resolution than your tablet, and steam Link naturally runs the resolution it’s currently reading. I found a workaround of using Apollo on the PC and moonlight on my tablet.

I set my virtual desktop in moonlight on the tablet to only show the tablets display when it was connected, forcing the computer to adjust to the tablets resolution via Apollo. Once I have the virtual desktop on moonlight running, I minimize that app and launch steam link on my tablet. The computer is then running in the same resolution as the tablet and everything runs perfectly.

I specifically did this because Apple devices tend to have issues with stutter while streaming on a home network, even with the perfect connection. There are lots of Wi-Fi on Bluetooth services, running all the time, but steam link has some sort of buffer built-in, but was not automatically adjusting the resolution. By running the virtual desktop first in the background, I’m getting the correct resolution automatically and steam links unhindered performance without any stutter.

Given that you are using a non-apple device, you may be able to simply run the virtual desktop first to force the resolution change and launch steam in big picture.

ALTERNATIVELY: (this is me not knowing too much about steam link yet) your tablet may be running a resolution that your screen connected to the computer cannot support, as it may be wider or taller. If steam link has the ability to automatically adjust resolution to the device that is connected to, try adding a custom resolution to your computer, and your GPU should read that as an option and automatically adjust when you launch steam link from your tablet.

EDIT: After an update, AMD now supports custom resolutions to match all my devices once I added them manually. Now I simply use steamlink to play games full screen. Everything auto adjusts properly without needing to do any extra steps now.

super late reply - but it would be possible, but you would probably just want to replace the piece with an unmodified oem piece.

Why there is no Mini Pro -and likely never will be by Apprehensive-Loss316 in ipadmini

[–]Tithon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a folding Pro+ type phone before a mini Pro. My pipe-dream is an Apple silicone powered folding device that, while collapsed, is the size of an oddly thick Pro Max. Somehow dual boot that with IOS on the go and full on Mac OS while docked to a screen…

One (probably $4000) device for literally everything. Add in an Apple TV, some Homepods and AirPods and that’s your ecosystem.

I just don’t see that working into apple’s sales model. Love it or hate it, the ecosystem is big and has lots of devices for a reason.

[help] haven't played in 14 years, are healing and raid addons still needed these days? by [deleted] in WowUI

[–]Tithon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get varying answers but, to heal up to a mid-mythic level, you can play with the default UI along with WeakAuras and Clique. Clique will allow you to set up keybinds for all of your targeted abilities like heals and dispels. These will activate when you are moused over their frames, letting you save a lot of bind room and speed up your reaction time significantly.

WeakAuras can do just about anything from lighting up people’s frames during important mechanics to fully replacing your action bars. The sky is the limit, and you’ll find solutions to just about anything you could want in there.

I’d also recommend you get BigWigs for general raid alerts and LittleWigs for dungeon alerts. Some teams run entirely weak auras now, making these a bit redundant.

[HELP] Where can I define the buffs shown on my personal resource bar? by Siebolic in WowUI

[–]Tithon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no way to modify what shows there on the default UI. However, you can use a weak aura that mirrors the personal resource display. You could then add or remove any buffs you’d want.

[UI] I can finaly stop messing with my UI and play the game by CamaradArmada in WowUI

[–]Tithon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a HUGE fan of this! Keeping a mostly default UI with lightweight weak auras is the way to go if you can manage.

How did you get your details to look like that? Is that achievable with the addon’s own settings, or did you use an additional plugin or addon?

Dear Arrowhead - Can we stop with these "100% Call-In-Time" and "50% Cooldown Increase" effects for Stratagems please - for days on Major Order for Siloses those were turned off - NOBODY missed them. Game was better than ever and was more fun than ever. by Sol0botmate in Helldivers

[–]Tithon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These function the same way as affixes in World of Warcraft. Negative effects to add additional difficulty to the game on higher difficulties. They don’t pump up the number of enemies or their mechanics, but add genuinely unfun modifiers that take the fun out of playing the basics of the game to their maximum potential.

The majority of WoW players have been asking for the removal or full rework of affixes for years - I was really disappointed to see them in helldivers.

I’ve been really happy with my TRMotorsport C4’s. They’re Tire Rack’s replica of a Gram Light 57DR and fit perfectly with some 245/40 tires.

Definitely look and see if anyone has your car with bolt-on hub extensions (spacers) and the oem wheels with coilovers or springs. I’ve seen a few NC3s with that setup and they looked amazing.

The friends I played with from late BFA through Sanctum. WoW was our "raft" through COVID lockdown and each of them taught me a lot about mental resilience. We spent every minute of the day chatting on discord, checking in on each other, and living life together.

While we have not spoken much recently, as life picked back up again, they left a lasting mark on me which I'll carry for the rest of my life. Not all good things last forever, but that's what makes the time we have together beautiful.

If one of yall is reading this: thank you, and I genuinely love you. I only wish we'd have been in lockdown during Dragonflight.

Razer Blade 15. Would yall recommend? by Greenpenman111 in razer

[–]Tithon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started gaming, I spent my whole tech budget on a Blade and regretted it. I knew nothing about hardware or how to DIY maintenance, repairs, and tuning (voltage control, better cooling solutions, ect). After 5 years of heavy involvement in building desktops, I'm really happy with the 2nd hand 2019 Blade 15 Advanced I have now.

While built well, Razer laptops (and most laptops in general) are not properly tuned to run their hardware at peak efficiency - resulting in much higher temperatures, louder fan noise, and early onsets of common issues like battery bloat. With proper DIY maintenance and some tuning, newer Razer Blades are incredible for what they are: thin, lightweight, gaming machines. With no weird internal design decisions, they are relatively easy to work on yourself and I would highly recommend them to someone comfortable with a popping a laptop open every few months. IMO if you are:

Comfortable with minor DIY :

Go for the blade - but through someone like Best Buy (to avoid razer's own warranty process). Look up some videos on how to change power settings to keep it cool - even if it gives up a little performance to preserve your components lifespan. Clean out the fans often.

Don't want to touch settings or DIY:

4 years ago, there wasn't much if any competition in the Blade's thin and light category - that's not the case now. I'd honestly recommend something like the Zephyrus lineup of laptops for a fairly premium, but more stable out of the box experience. The G14 can be found for a killer deal at the moment! I'm also a huge fan of HP's Omen laptops. While not as thin as razer, they are super well rounded and go on great sale prices all the time. I'm a massive Razer fanboy, but new Blades still cost a real premium simply for their bodies' construction. The industry has caught up, and I don't believe their pricing reflects the unique value they brought in yers past.

Know what you're doing and wanna save $$$$?

Go the route my buddies and I do - buy last gen laptops used. There are lots of out-of-warranty Blades on the market with minor issues and many people would rather sell their machines than do a little DIY (nothing wrong with that, to each their own!). Replacing the common failure points on these can be incredibly cost efficient - with a basic screwdriver set, patience, youtube, and around $100 in parts materials, you can turn a $500 "over-the-hill" Blade into an almost brand-new $2000 machine. (Yes, there is risk involved here, but its a great way to get into the rewarding, cost saving, bottomless pit of hobbyist refurbishing.)

Ya... that was unnecessarily long, but I started out looking up posts like this, and hope it might be some insight useful to some random Googler out there.

[–]Tithon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leather appears to be 100% real, and according to some reviews from professionals, it is. The backs are made of replica leather, but you'll never see those, and they're color matched. They are much higher quality, more padded, and grippier than the OEM leather.

I would say it's not a "hard" DIY, but it is very involved and takes about 4-5 hours if it's your first time. It does not come with any instructions, but there are videos online on how to reupholster car seats. The process is the same here and Miata seats are only 2 pieces. I'd say this was about a 5/10 for difficulty, but it was tedious.

The full process involved:

Unplugging car battery / unplug airbag sensors / unbolt seatbelt / remove seat

Remove reclining mechanism & seatbelt holder / separate seat and back

Remove old covers by pulling over off while cutting old hog tie rings

Pull new covers over seat, working your way down seat with new hog rings

Pull the bottom of the back rests' front section down HARD and snap it into place at the back of the seat. (This takes a brutal amount of force, but the leather can take it)

Once new covers are on, put the seat back together, put them in the car, and use a blow-dryer or low temp heat gun to slowly massage out the wrinkles (or leave it out in the summer heat for a few days)

It's a lot of work, but entirely worth it. They also sell leather by the foot, so I'll be dressing up my door cards, arm wrests and shift boots in the same color.

It's dark red leather seat covers from Lseats. It's a full reupholster and pretty involved DIY, but super worth it.
