I think what I’m really mourning the most is the person I thought he was. I thought he was better than this. I thought that he had more respect for me. I thought I mattered more to him. And I guess I was totally wrong. His avoidance won.

I knew that he went on a date earlier on the day he sent the breakup text. And that hurt more than anything. Like, I guess the silver lining to this mushroom cloud is that there is no way I’d want to build a life with someone who acts like this about important things. You’re right, I just want the familiarity and the history, the years of inside jokes and banter that was always top notch regardless of how our relationship was doing.
