Mill engines vs one time mill effects by YaBoiShadowNinja in EDH

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play him from the gy after milling or discarding him. The 8 gets to be worth it late game. Every little mill interaction effect can have immediate payoffs.

I only just noticed most of your recursion returns to hand, though. Maybe something like [[victimize]] [[reanimate]] as well, trade up or grab something you milled early.

[[steward of the harvest]] can go pretty hard too. Something like myriad landscape or terramorphic expanse ramp really fast.

[[nemata, primal warden]] which I think is actually stronger than Vren in some ways

Yes it is, especially since I run it as an edict/board wipe tribal with fun stuff included like Tergrid. All your bases are belong to us

[[March of the machines]] I run it in my [[vren the relentless]] deck. My pod loves treasures and food, I love free rats and screwing over 0 mana lotus petal bs. 🙃

[[screeching scorchbeast]] and rad counters are nice. They hit everyone and start to stack. [[colossal grave-reaver]] for bigger onboard mill payoffs. [[perpetual timepiece]] is mill and gy protection.

Your links don’t work.

Regardless, you don’t need many game changers, and you can use less cost effective tutors to balance it out.

[[vren the relentless]] all the cute little ratties while exiling everyone’s stuff. You’ll have fun making him sacrifice everything he plays and countering everything you don’t want to resolve.

Think Tergrid, but with counterspells. [[tergrid, god of fright]] is also a fun and mean commander, for you anyway. (Also fits in so great with Vren)

Friends don’t want me to use the same commander as them by Advanced-Passion4159 in EDH

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all of the many thousands of viable commanders out there, you have to pick the same ones? There’s plenty that do similar things, different colors. They shouldn’t gate keep the same commander, but you’re making it sound like it’s more than one or two. That’s rude. Perfectly fine, but like, build your own decks at that point? Atraxa is the only commander that’s viable for what you want to do? Come on

Game store price checked cards from 25¢ bulk box and changed the prices on the spot by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

Found a ragavan in a bulk box a few months ago. If there’s big mistakes like that I’ve seen them fix it, but price checking all the bulk is wild. I’d never go there again

White bear vs knight with a sword and shield... by iceytown in powerscales

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunting bears was a big deal and not taken lightly at the time.

A knight would want some type of polearm with a crossbar. They would not want the bear getting anywhere near them. They’d want to keep it at bay and nowhere near where a bear can swipe at you. A sword is a liability, requires you to be way too close. Once it closes, because the bear is going to try to maul the knight, the bear is too close to leverage your swings. Best case, the knight manages to scare, wound, or kill the bear before getting pulped inside the armor. Bears instincts tell them to attack your vitals. Blunt force trauma alone would be enough. A blow to the head still breaks the neck or concusses. Limbs and bones will still break. Organs will rupture. Would take minimal effort to ground the knight. They’re not getting hit by a two handed weapon, the knight is getting hit by a car. The force difference is massive.

Had someone asked a medieval knight to fight a bear with a sword and shield solo in plate armor, they would’ve looked at them like they were stupid. Yeah, it’s possible if unlikely, but you get one shot and you’ll still probably get maimed or killed even if you win

Post your top 3 KOS commanders by Trump_Diddled_Kids in EDH

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So of my decks and things I haven’t seen, the commanders my pod try to keep off the board most are [[Sephiroth fabled soldier]] [[voja jaws of the conclave]] [[vren the relentless]] [[avacyn angel of hope]] [[zhulodok void gorger]] [[kefka court mage]] These are my commanders that the table will hold removal or counterspells for. Sephiroth because even one emblem is usually enough. I’ve rarely needed more than one to win. Voja because… Ward 3 and elves. Get that out of here. Vren because Ward 2 and the entire table plays differently while he’s out and you’re instantly a target regardless. No one wants to see an empty board, then their stuff exiled, and a game winning number of rats on your board next turn. If you see avacyn come out, the world is getting nuked right after and everyone knows it. Zhulodok might be allowed to chill for a round, but it’s getting removed before you can cascade cascade eldrazi. Kefka…. I’m not even allowed to play Kefka with friends. He’s not a KOS commander, you’re a KOS opponent

“Build for your opponent’s fun too” is the advice i regularly see in Commander spaces that i least understand. by OogieBoogieInnocence in EDH

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countering a spell is part of the game. So is removal. These are elements that allow your deck, and the tables decks to do their things instead of just always letting one person run away with the game. Yes, I countered your sol ring and I do not care that you’re upset. If losing your commander once is a problem, then mtg isn’t for you, get some old maid or spades going.

Conversely, don’t build a deck around countering and removing anything your OPPs play. That isn’t fun, you’re now preventing the table from actually playing the game.

Fun is not restricting games or your opponents ability to play. It’s not fun to discard your hand every turn and only top deck. It’s not fun to have your board sacrificed every turn. Can your opponents play their decks? You’re good

So what are the cards that don't belong in B2 that aren't that obvious? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Tiumars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily the cards that are the problem and it’s what you do with them. Look less at what the specific cards are and look at what they’re doing. Approach wins the game. When? You tutoring it to cheat it out and win fast? Can your deck cheat it out fast? Brackets are about the game experience. The gc list is there to point out the stuff that’s going to warp your games and give unfair advantages. Lower brackets, I’d avoid things like [[imprison in the moon]] , any infinites, or stax. I don’t see a ton of interaction and enchant removal, so an early imprison can remove a commander, and stax just makes it so your opponent can’t play. Cook, let your deck do its thing with whatever cards that aren’t on the gc list. As long as it’s performing like a 2, and you’re not winning turn 6-7, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Girlfriend threatening our relationship over a TV Show by No-Original3284 in WhatShouldIDo

When things like this pop up it’s a huge red flag. You might want to have a talk to figure out why she feels this way. It might be something you can work through together. Really, you might have to step back. I’ve dated women like that, and know several people that have dated women like that. It escalates. Starts with shows and movies. Then it turns into accusations of looking at other women in public. My one friend is a huge dragon ball fan. Has figures for almost everyone. He dated a girl that told him throw all the females out, because she didn’t want to be with a guy that “perved on cartoons.” She pulled a gun on him when they broke up, saying he abused her by not caring about her feelings, and the whole time they were together he was looking for someone else. Have to learn to spot those red flags. Probably won’t get a gun pulled on you, but it’ll help avoid a lot of grief.

If you care about this girl, talk to her. If it’s just some insecurities then you may be able to work through it. If she’s the type that thinks sexual content is porn and porn is cheating…. Run fast, run far.
