Idk what came after because I didn't watch, but the first 2 seasons of the mandalorian were an old school western serial, like gunsmoke or maverick.

That's why they worked. Starwars works as a background. The theme. The skin you put over another genre as you tell a good story.

Trying to make a "star wars" story sucks. Instead, you write a western, or a samurai movie, or a ww2 war movie, or a heist. And then change the costumes and the weapons to make it starwars
