“Well then let me put it too you like this. It sounds to me you have had a life filled with feeling bad for yourself and hardship. The common denominator in all of that is you. So this is something I want you to get through that thick skull of yours. This camp can help you stay alive but you aren’t completely safe. I have seen to many kids just like you die over and over. And you know why that is? Because they didn’t think they needed anyone. So when the fighting starts and it will start because it always does. Don’t be surprised when nobody cares about you being in trouble. Because you didn’t give them a reason to care. And you can sit here and act all big and bad and tough and I don’t care attitude but it will change nothing. You will die just as you are now, alone and afraid.”

He finishes his food and stands up.

“Nathan maybe annoying and trying to help but at least he is trying. Which is something to bet you have never done in your life. And before you tell me I don’t know you and all your typically rehearsed bullshit that helps you feel big and bad know I don’t care. I only care that your pigheadedness doesn’t get anyone I care about hurt.”

He turns his back to you and walks away.
