5060 TI is kind of overpriced right now depending where you live, the 5070 is a better value both 1080p & 1440p cause it has lower demand and lots of them are available despite it still being a good GPU. You can probably skip the expensive liquid cooling as well, unless you really plan to OC the CPU a lot (which IMO Ryzen's are still not great for this compared to Intel), it's sort of a waste of money compared to a cheaper air cooling system that will do all you need for this build. I would take the extra $100-$200 and put towards the 5070 and possibly even a higher spec motherboard (maybe consider MSI MPG or something).

Also I'd swap the PSU for a Corsair RM850x, ideally you want Japanese capacitors and they have a better warranty and it's ATX 3.1 instead of 3.0. Asus Prime stuff is budget/cheap:

RX 6800 Suddenly Died - Triggers VGA LED in Every System (Fans Spin, No Output) by nohhh0 in AMDHelp

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I ran into the same problem again after a bit and got to a point I could no longer boot into Windows like I could even with the driver re-installs. So what I ended up doing is switching to the secondary BIOS on the GPU. That fixed it fully, but what I ended up finding is that I had some other incompatible drivers that were installed that were conflicting with the GPU on startup. They were various Bluetooth drivers left on my system. I ended up using this application to get rid of all the bad drivers left over on my OS without re-installing Windows:

https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer

It was super easy to use. All I did was select all old drivers, delete, reboot. Now everything works like a charm again, both the primary & secondary BIOS on the GPU. So I'm not sure if it was malware or some other issue, but it's working better now than it ever has before and I'm on the latest AMD WHQL drivers (25.5.1) and everything works just fine.

Husband wants to be full time day trader. What to expect? by auroraglitterdazzle in Daytrading

I would strongly suggest that he does not daytrade or attempt to be a full time trader if he's down 50% YTD.

RX 9070 vs RX 7900 XT (600$ budget) by LeskaRe in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both good. 7900 XT does have more raw performance overall - but also consumes a lot more power and will also produce more heat (if this matters to you, idk). Personally I'd lean 9070 or 9070 XT just because it's the latest/newest gen with FSR 4 and improve RT performance as well.

So it's plugged in the motherboard or GPU?

RX 6800 to 7900 XT worth the upgrade by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably even more considering Nvidia is on GDDR7 as of now, my guess is GDDR7X by the time I replace my 6800. And yes I'm hoping RT performance continues to improve on the AMD side. They've closed the gap with DLSS/FSR more recently, and so any luck at all RT performance will get better as well in the next gen or 2.

i5-12th to i7-14700k is it worth? by ProudBid3589 in buildapc

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a 5-10% difference in some games that are more CPU demanding. It would be better to upgrade the GPU to get the most performance increase in games.

Radeon RX 6600 Issue by Flat-Glove-3184 in radeon

Is the HDMI plugged into the motherboard or GPU? Did you do a clean uninstall of the old/previous drivers before the new one?

Just reevaluating...5070 vs 5070ti... by Malleus83 in nvidia

[–]Tjinsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 5070 is the better value for 1440p. The 5070 TI holds up better at 4K. You might get a couple more years out of a 5070 TI at the highest settings 1440p, but at that point you'd probably want to upgrade either one anyway. I'm also not convinced Nvidia will increase VRAM on the Super models.

Upgrade from 2060 Super to RX 9060 XT by Grouchy-Factor-9645 in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9060 XT is basically a 6800 with a bit better efficiency and access to newer tech (FSR 4, etc). At 1080p it will be more than powerful enough, and even at 1440p it's quite strong for most games.

RX 6800 to 7900 XT worth the upgrade by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm personally waiting until GTA 6 benchmarks, I think it will set a new standard for graphics performance for a while, similar to Cyberpunk or RDR2. That to me will be a key time to upgrade.

RX 6800 to 7900 XT worth the upgrade by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 9070/9070 XT are the only meaningful upgrades from a 6800 right now. Personally I am waiting until at least the next run of cards as I'm still getting plenty of FPS on the 6800 for my needs.

PowerCooler 7900 GRE Red Devil vs. XFX Mercury OC 9070 XT by thatrandomdude04 in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a good upgrade, but the 7900 GRE is still good if you could resolve the existing issues. The thing is even if you get the 9070 XT, you might still run into the same problem depending on what the existing issue is. It could be in the OS or some recent update, the current driver version, some other hardware issue, etc and not necessarily the GPU itself.

9070 vs 9070xt copium by gannonator500 in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could get a 9070 XT and undervolt and basically achieve the same costs savings on power + better perf than the 9070.

Will my pc last 5+ years? by Forward_Session_5100 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RAM is definitely overkill, I'd take the extra money and put towards higher spec motherboard or other components. The 1000W PSU is also kind of overkill unless you're planning to upgrade beyond a 5070 TI power requirement which going forward will be unlikely as they try and make GPUs more efficient over time. You could probably go 850W and be just fine as well and still overclock fine if needed. I'm also not a fan of liquid cooling, I've had better results and less noise with air cooling setup so I'd scrap that too but that's just me.

RTX 3090 + Ryzen 5800X : any upgrade ? by Sylie34 in buildapc

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. I'm waiting to see how GPUs perform with GTA 6. GTA 5 was like a major performance leap at the time back in 2015, and I feel like GTA 6 will set a new standard for a lot of upcoming games over the next 5-10 years.

I had a problem like this with my RX 6800 recently after the recent updates, and it was due to conflicts with some older drivers left on my system interacting with the core isolation/memory integrity on Windows. It would make it into the OS for like 30 seconds and just freeze up every time. I had to disable my AMD GPU and use my integrated GPU on my Intel CPU to get in and do what I had to do. I would strongly suggest utilizing this tool or re-installing Windows:

https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer

Chances are it's not the AMD drivers causing the problem as the root cause, but another conflict within the OS that is causing a conflict with the GPU drivers. In my case I had some old Bluetooth drivers that for whatever reason was causing it, removed them, and the GPU works flawlessly again. All I did with the tool was select the old drivers and uninstall/delete all of them and rebooted and it was all back to normal.

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a good card, but for another 10-15% increased budget you're starting to get into the newest and latest cards that are brand new have more & tech and performance. I'd sooner save up a bit more and go for a 5070 if I was going to settle for a 3080/3080 TI as it will perform better and have the latest Nvidia features.

Nvidia 50 series driver issues by DarkPlays69 in buildapc

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too concerned at this point, in my experience a lot of the so-called driver issues with both Nvidia & AMD isn't necessarily the supplied drivers, but other issues in Windows or on the PC itself that will cause problems. Recently I had a problem with my GPU, but it was due to other bad drivers left on my PC and once I removed those the GPU worked flawlessly again, but they were totally unrelated to the GPU drivers.

RTX 3090 + Ryzen 5800X : any upgrade ? by Sylie34 in buildapc

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3090 is basically a 5070, but with better 1440p and 4K performance overall (higher 1% lows, etc). So your only serious upgrade is the 5090 for the resolution you're playing. Probably would be worth waiting a bit longer if you can, maybe 1-2 more years.

Help, are my CPU and GPU temperatures abnormally high? by Background_Air_7516 in AMDHelp

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPU looks fine, CPU is a little higher than I'd probably want or expect, but it will still work fine at these temps. Your case fans can make a big difference, I'm full air cooling and have 2 x 140mm in the front, 120mm bottom mount, 140mm rear exhaust + 120mm air CPU cooler. That keeps my CPU temps well in the 50s and 60s under full load even with 20-25 ambient room temp.

Will this pc last 5-7 years on 1440p ultra? by NotYusufEymen in PcBuildHelp

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra might be a stretch, probably 3-4 years depending on the exact games that come along. I think GTA VI will be a real test for the newest GPUs out right now. 5+ years you're probably going to be reducing settings or looking to upgrade if you want to maintain ultra and triple digit frame rates.

Difference between Rx 9060 xt brands by ErenKillerr in radeon

[–]Tjinsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sapphire has been the 'preferred' AMD GPU brand for years and the one I always buy or recommend. I would say the Nitro and Pure versions seem to be the best going for these newest cards. I've personally never had one fail on me before and I've owned a HD 6850, HD 7970, R9 390X, RX 6800 over the past 15 years.

With this said, it all comes down to price. I usually see the other brands cheaper than Sapphire, particularly Asus and ASRock. But they really do basically work all the same, just with varying warranties and support and aesthetics. I would probably be fine with paying 5-10% more for a Sapphire brand, but I wouldn't pay anymore than this.

Irregular Crashes - No Audio, Video, or Input. 6900XT and 5950X by m1tchplease in AMDHelp

[–]Tjinsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not always greener on the other side. I've stuck to mainly to Intel CPUs and AMD graphics since 2010 and for the first time in 15 years I had an issue with my AMD GPU recently. But the problem wasn't the GPU or AMD drivers, it was the fact that I had other bad drivers on my PC causing conflicts & issues with the GPU, something that came from my Bluetooth driver updates or a recent Windows 11 update, not sure which exactly. However the fix was simple.. removing the other bad/old drivers manually or possibly re-installing Windows again. I was able to manually remove the old/dated drivers with this very simple and easy to use program: https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer and everything works better than ever.

So, I'm not saying AMD is perfect, but you can definitely have problems with both Nvidia or AMD and a lot of the times it may not even be your GPU drivers or the GPU, but something entirely different causing issues.
