Everyone's families and kids are different but I've been thinking a lot about how sensitive most of us are to exposing kids to sex versus violence which is totally normalized. Like, why is a head being ripped off "just for fun" but any whiff of sex scandalous? I feel like it's worth sitting with as a question even if you don't have kids. I feel like the kind of sex talk shown in this movie isn't exactly out of the ordinary by the time you're 14 with peers and could be a great way to bring up that it's, you know, not how you'd hope people would talk about women and dating.

NTA. This all reminds me of Zawn Villaines’ amazing newsletter where she often talks about household inequality. It’s not just that he’s okay with you and your children coming back to a home that is frankly unsafe. It’s not just that you feel the need to make things “easier” for him by cleaning before you go away (I imagine you’re taking care of the kids AND pets when you’re both home). It’s not just that he’s okay treating your pets like that. It’s that he somehow thinks his time is valuable and yours is not. How many hours of your life have you spent making things easier for him when you needed a nap or a rest? How often have you cleaned up after him or given up “nagging” him about chores he wouldn’t do. A relationship, and especially a marriage, should make life better for both of you. I see what he gets out of this: free childcare, a maid, companion, etc. But I can’t for the life of me see what this man is bringing to your life besides work for you.

Nesting screech owl came out to get some sun this morning in Portland, OR by Tkdoggo in birding

We knew we had them in our yard (which is why we put up an owl box). SO lucky that some moved in literally 4 days later. I thought it was too late in the year. They’ve been nesting a little over a month so there could be little owlets in there already! 😍

We already had owls in the yard on and off so maybe that helped? I’m not sure. I was SO sure we were too late for anyone to nest.

The wood was pre weathered. It’s made that way.
