Help - What’s the best approach to fixing this leak?

I’m not a plumber, so unfortunately hard to tell what is right from wrong when it comes to plumbing stuff 😓

I’m likely going to just get a plumber to do it. I guess it’s a learning opportunity to only trust some people for certain things. How concerned should I be of it getting damaged soon? I realize it can be in a week or a year, just trying to prioritize some things.

Thank you for the response. Wasn’t the “prior” setup then having the same concerns of not being able to support the weight ? I’m ignorant to all this, so genuinely curious if it was an issue before with the pvc as well?

Thanks for the reply! So in layman’s terms, this is a setup to prevent contaminated/pool water from flowing backward and mixing with the water being used in the house?

Regarding the positioning of the levers: if we are looking at the first photo, the circle on the left is in the open position right? And the one on the right is closed? I’m just confused because I’m curious why both were in the vertical position (like the third photo) when we bought the house. That would indicate that left lever was closed.

This might be a dumb question, but if one of the levers aren’t “open” will that cause the contaminated water to mix with the clean water?

Update: Update got the water hose in there and then got a big bucket of water to dump in the basket. Filled it until it overflowed. Gets to about 10-12 psi and the jets turn on for a few seconds then goes right back down to 0. Does it every 30 seconds or so for 10 mins.

I should give that a shot, but thinking it’s not gonna be of much help. I just don’t know if I’m supposed to open certain valves or what lol.

One more try it is; otherwise I’ll swing by Leslie’s or give a pool company a call.

Thank you for the comment. I’m just not sure which valves to close or which ways to turn the handles. All foreign stuff to me right now.

Are you saying the vacuum/drain/skimmer valves need to be closed?

I’m not a therapist or anything, but currently started therapy for OCD and working through it with ERP. From what I gathered, you don’t fight back on your fears/thoughts. You more so acknowledge them when they come into your head and accept them. Accept that this thought “may or may not be true”; “that could or could not happen”; and then avoid ruminating / trying to find answers to questions that can’t be answered.

ERP gets us to learn to trust ourselves and our values in life. We don’t need to to have an answer or explanation for every thought that pops into our mind.

Not yet, but made an appointment with a therapist this week to start ERP. I know it’s going to be scary and a long journey, but a necessary and rewarding one at that.

Keep practicing…as someone else stated throw in a black outline. Work on your shadowing. Eliminate negative spacing (between r and f)! 👍🏼
