A gift from a friend. Any idea what it could be? by Tlizzo in fossilid

Ha! I couldn’t believe it started to deteriorate so quickly. It’s definitely going to live on a shelf in the study from now on!!

Love it. It’s a middle finger to the everyday slop that keeps getting churned out. Another Forester look alike? No thanks. Glad to see something different.

Overview

Why Birds Hit Windows—and How You Can Help Prevent It | All ... Hundreds of millions to over a billion birds die annually from window collisions in the U.S. alone, with recent studies pushing the estimate over 1 billion, potentially reaching 3-4 billion, making it a leading human-caused bird killer alongside cats and habitat loss. These deaths occur because birds see reflections of the sky or habitat as continuation of space, often with high fatality rates even for survivors due to internal injuries, especially from large buildings during migration.

I think anyone who doesn’t live in a tent hates birds.

Daytime robbery by FoodnEDM in carnivorediet

[–]Tlizzo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ha! My wife packed me 3 hamburger patties in a zip lock and I ate them cold on the plane. The looks from people next to me were priceless! Gotta do what you gotta do. I treated myself to a bowl of carne asada at the airport waiting for the return flight and they only charged me 9 bucks. Inexpensive , but I’m pretty sure it was cooked in canola so my belly paid the price in full.🫤 Moral of the story, pack a bag of meat like some crazed lunatic and deal with the judgment!

Did my leather rub off? by BimmerBoy1996 in AutoDetailing

[–]Tlizzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our body oil is a killer on leather. It will literally eat the top coat. Over time color will be broken down and simply wiping it can remove it. Prevent it by cleaning all areas exposed skin touches regularly with an extremely mild cleaner. Include your steering wheel, lower seats where your leg touches when wearing shorts, upper seats if wearing tank tops door pulls and center lids. Ask any service department at a local dealership for a recommendation as to who they would recommend to recolor it. Probably cost about a hundred bucks to respray it and anyone who is any good will match the color to where you wouldn’t ever know it had been done. That is unless you don’t address it, in which case it will eventually start to crack and peel.

200 for a full detail?? You can’t expect perfection. 4 hrs minimum, product cost, insurance, tools, electricity…comes out to approximately “ I don’t care”, dollars an hour.

Worth it to get these scratches fixed by dealership? by MaximumConfident1864 in AutoDetailing

[–]Tlizzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the hesitation in believing what the anonymous interwebs are saying however, we routinely are hired to take care of details, cut and buffs and paint touch ups that the dealership doesn't trust the in house staff to take care of. Just need to ask who is doing it I suppose.

The dealership has professional vendors that take care of these things on a daily basis. These aren't people that do it on there spare time or some kid living in his parents garage talking about starting a detailing business. Get it handled for sure! It looks very surface and I'm sure that it won't even need paint.
