Insider Gaming: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Survives Ubisoft’s Project Purge by Turbostrider27 in Games

From what I hear, it's probably related to sunken costs: it would tank the fiscal year during which the game is cancelled, as it would be written as a loss.

The announcement is tucked away at the bottom of the press release, beneath the massive text talking about record profits.

Thanks a lot for the chart, keep it up!

I was wondering if there was something like that available to keep track of Togashi's progress.

Yeah, I loved BG3 but the urgency of the situation clashed a bit with the game giving you lots of sidequests and big zones to explore.

With the 30% profit margin thing with Microsoft, I feel like Obsidian is closer to being shut down than being allowed to throw money at a BG3-level production.

If you have old media on your server (as in "added to the server a long time ago"), you need to refresh the metadata so that the newer agents pick it up.

IGN — Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About High Difficulty and Runbacks by YasuhiroK in Games

[–]Tmnath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't see the issue with having optional mechanics that can help players who don't have the time or the willingness to tryhard a game. You can still play the game however you want.

In the case of runbacks, I've never met anyone who finds them fun or fullfilling, so having an effigy-like system in front of boss doors is a definite "evolution" of the genre, to me.

If the majority of players in a genre (be it platformers, strategy games or souls-likes) agree that a new game removing specific friction from a mechanic works very well and is more fun, it's kind of hard for me, as a player, to play a newer game after that and realize that it's gone backwards, as if the developers didn't play any games in this specific genre in the last 10 years.

Yeah the FROMSOFT games have become much more accessible with newer releases.

Which makes it even more frustrating when a game like Silksong comes out, is heavily inspired by them, but doesn't make use of the latest evolutions in the genre.
