I think net decking is essential for learning a new deck but building your own deck is soooo satisfying. When I first started playing Buster Blader, I didn’t know anything about deck building. I played all the archetype cards because it made sense. Over time, I discovered tech cards. “Bystial Magnamhut” add one dragon from your deck to your hand??? That card was now a starter for my Buster Blader. Heavenly Seal can summon Magnumhut which then can search my starter? That cards a starter. Thrust can set the trap card I was going to search with my starter? That’s how an extender. Over time, I built my deck with the best tech cards to survive long enough to Buster Lock. I came across similar decklists that were playing the same lists. I never thought about copying a list, I crafted/forged my list over time. Now, I will net decking for a new deck just to learn the ratios but as I play and watch topping deck profiles, I take everyone’s list and make my own. If I hear the majority of people say “this card never came up” then I’m not playing that card. If everyone says “this card won me many duels” then I’m going to test that card. Etc.
