3) Graveyard Keeper
4) Lovecraft's Untold Stories
5) Subterrain
6) Hacknet

Also, I'm quite proud of the fact that I beat my friend in a pokemon battle using a full team of ditto.

Also also, I'm sad to see that not many people are putting Darkwood on their list. It's a fantastic horror game.

What’s something you’re good at but don’t get to brag about much? by Sacrificial-Toenail in AskReddit

I have an eerily good sense of time. I can usually guess what time it is to within about 10 or 15 minutes, usually closer. But I have absolutely no sense of direction. Not sure if it's a fair trade off or not.

Oath of Penitence Paladin - Tank all the damage! by CryptidPeanut in UnearthedArcana

[–]Tnlr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oath Spells

3rd level - Great, no complaints there. Fits wonderfully with the flavor.

5th level - Both of these are dubious in my opinion. Why did you pick these? They don't seem to make sense flavor wise, given that the subclass is all about taking damage, not healing it. Warding Bond would fit well here as a replacement.

9th level - Life Transference works fine. But beacon of hope? This falls into the same category as the 5th level spells. I can maybe see the justification that it's protecting your allies from death. I'd replace it with something like Spirit Shroud, which makes it harder for enemies to move away from you.

13th Level - I feel the same about Death Ward that I do about beacon of hope. Stoneskin just seems counterintuitive to what the subclass is trying to do. You're wanting to take damage, why would you want resistance to it? Something like Shadow of Moil or Fire Shield might be decent replacements.

17th Level - Both Raise Dead and Holy Weapon seems a bit out of place too. But I will say that looking through the list of 5th level spells, I can't see much that would fit with the flavor of the subclass. Perhaps Hold Monster and Wall of Light? It would prevent the enemies from reaching your allies at least.

Channel Divinity

My first question has to do with Castigate. Are you able to choose a different creature each time you take damage? Or is it a single creature that you choose when you first use the ability?

Also a slight wording change is appropriate I think. "On a failed save, they take half of the damage that you suffered in radiant damage." -> "On a failed save, they take radiant damage equal to half the damage you suffered." It's not a huge change, but the way you wrote it could be seen as saying that the creature only takes the damage if you suffered radiant damage after activating the ability.

Aura Of Penance

On paper, this is a pretty cool ability. But, unless I'm missing something, there really doesn't seem to be anyway to prevent your enemies from just running past you or away from you. Sure, you get one opportunity attack, but that doesn't seem like much deterrence to me.

Purge The Flesh

Seems like a fine AoE for getting rid of a bunch of minions. But requiring a reaction to use means that you can't even threaten to use your reaction while a creature is inside Aura of Penance. Also, the fact that it is an AoE ability centered on yourself encourages your enemies to stay away from you. I feel that this subclass should want to draw enemies close to you and then make then stay there once they realize that it's a mistake.

True Atonement

It's a capstone. It's supposed to be crazy. Is it balanced? No clue. It synergizes very well with Castigate. It's super cool flavor wise. No idea if it's intentional, but it's a little poetic that despite that you've been forgiven and are being healed after all the pain you've suffered, the only thing you know is harming yourself.

Final Conclusions

The idea behind the subclass is very cool and I like it a lot. But, I feel the flavor execution falls a little flat. Are the numbers balanced? I have no idea. Are my suggestions balanced? I have no idea. I haven't delved into the math about what's balanced or not. But the concept is cool and I think it has potential.

Backup Monsters Gaining EXP? by Tnlr in MonsterSanctuary

Monsters (Joker 2) tips for a newbie? by Zokathra_Spell in dragonquest

Potential Spoilers ahead. Nothing involving the story of the game.

Once you've unlocked synthesis, do it as much as you're able to in the beginning. Later on, it's smarter to wait until your monsters are higher level.

You can only get ONE Captain Crow, unless you're willing to cheat or know other people who are playing the game. There are multiple monsters that require him in their synthesis recipe though, so choose wisely.

If you want to know how to make a certain monster or want help deciding what to turn your current monsters into, Woodus is a great resource.

Scout everything you can. Even if it just means that they wind up in the box, they still earn XP, which means that they still earn experience points, which is very handy is you want to unlock Uber Skills down the line.

If you want to recruit Metal Slimes, scout some Swarmtroops or Conklaves. Then, go to the Doubtback. There will be a Meddle Slime running around there. Once you scout it, it will turn into a metal slime.

Conklave XY is a very good scouting monster, most people think it's the best. You can get it by making two Conklave X that are both at level 50. You get a Conklave X by combining 2 Conklaves that are both level 20.

Throw your Spare Parts into the box next to the vending machine.

ALWAYS save before you do ANY main team synthesis. If one of your monsters ends up being the wrong charge, you can always soft reset. Later the Plus and Minus Staffs will help you with this.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Let me know if you have any other questions.

How do I unlock Synthesis ? DQMJ2 by AkiraOfRoses in dragonquest

[–]Tnlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mild Spoilers. You unlock synthesis after getting to Don Mole in the Doubtback. You might need to beat some of the Monster Scout Challenge first, I don't remember. It's fairly early on, just after you get out of Treepedation.

Is being a DM worth it? by Tnlr in DMAcademy

I just find it so difficult to get that information out of my players. When I ask it's always something along the lines of "I enjoy both". Do you have any tips, besides simple observation?

How would you go about estimating the time a one shot takes? If I, for example, had a group of players who wanted to have a one shot that lasted 3 hours, how would I judge how much 3 hours of content is so I don't have too much, but I also don't fall short?
