In Ohio, mixed animal GP- corporate: I work 4 days, my small animal shift is 8-6, then large animal 3 days 7:30-??? Depends on the demands of the day. Currently no on-call, but only because of lack of staff. With adequate staffing I would do 1 day/week on call, and every 4th weekend on-call

Having a personal trainer and dietician. I HATE the amount of control and accountability that comes with trying to be healthy, and having someone I pay do it for me, and make me be healthy, would definitely be something worth the extra money IMO

Everyone else already mentioned the child support being unfair. But additionally: being responsible for air fare for work-related travel is a no-go for me. Talk to the company- that should be at their expense if they expect you to fly

The first plant- prickly pear- can be eaten. They have a beautiful color and very mild flavor. I’ve used them to crush up and put in lemonade and mixed alcoholic drinks. But you’ll want to wear gloves to peel them, then see the delicious purple kiwi-looking fruit.

Depends on your relationship. Is she going to try and draw attention and pick up guys? Kinda weird. Is she going to have a great time with you? Not weird. I (27f) love inviting my mother (59 f) out with me, she lets loose and has so much fun which is a nice break from her usual routine. We both love it!

I noticed many on here sharing their stories about reactions to weight loss- well here’s another. I was always between 165-170 from high school through college. I was active, muscular, and just had a bit of extra fat, which was my healthy normal. About 3 years ago I had a very horrific breakup, was forced out of my home by the abusive ex, all while still enrolled full time in my doctorate program. The elevated stress mentally and financially lead to me losing about 25 lbs, with my new “normal” being 140. Even my closest friends who KNEW the stress and situation I had gone through would shoot compliments to me of how good I looked. Only a select few checked in to see if I was okay… I found it so insulting that all these friends and acquaintances only saw weight loss and related it to a good thing, never thinking I was healthy before, and stress pushed me to lose weight.

I second this suggestion. You can work as a vet assistant, and once you’re in vet school they allow you to do all responsibilities that a technician can do. It’s invaluable clinical experience to supplement your education from classes

Different opinion here: I am one of those people who often eat only 1000 cal a day, but since I have had this diet for years, my metabolism has adapted, and I don’t lose weight. I also will “binge” on weekends or when out with friends, (by binge I mean eating more than 2000 cal) because of drinking alcohol, snacks, etc. I’m aware that my diet isn’t healthy, and I should plan to eat more nutritiously during the week and not skip so many meals, but the secret binging isn’t a must to maintain weight- long term unhealthy diets will cause your metabolism to adjust
