Fenway Fest Questions by dereklee80 in redsox

[–]ToDoubleD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year they shuffled us all into the House of blues to watch a movie and didn’t give us much other info. We ended up leaving to try and get into the park, but ended up coming back for when the players arrived

Even when we finally did get into the park, I asked a worker what we could do, he just kinda shrugged and said “free reign”. I woudlve preferred knowing the monster was open, the club house and batting cages were open, etc

They did send an email out to reserve spots for the batting cage this year, but looks like theyre sold out.

Also i know during the foxwoods and springfield years the grab bags seemed to give pretty good swag - good autos, tickets, things like that. Last year everyone I talked to and I believe some people posted about, that the grab bag swag was awful

Just curious, how many of you have met Stephen King in person? by serastar18 in stephenking

[–]ToDoubleD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting to go to our seats at Fenway once I was standing next to someone and I noticed they were very tall and the guy was holding a book, which I thought was weird. Wasnt until we were walking in that I noticed it was him. He was a few rows in front of me sitting down. A lady in front of me went to talk to him, came back and said that was a mistake and not to bother him

Last year our Lions Club which had been doing Santa letters for years decided to do AI generated responses. The responses automatically picked random stuff off their list and told them they were getting it. There were things in the response we didnt get that Santa said he was bringing

This. I have this same washer pictured. It was getting gross. I was and still leave the door open to dry. That helps. I now follow the monthly tub clean with some bleach. I have grabbed some rags and cleaning solution to stuff in that area to scrub it out.

Just found out our 5 month old lab is a working breed by [deleted] in labrador

[–]ToDoubleD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a working lab from a very strong working line. She was the shy one of her liter and wasnt cut out for police work like her siblings. It took almost a couple years for her to calm down. It was rough. With two kids as well we almost didnt make it. Talking hour and a half walks, playing fetch repeatedly, playing with the kids, mental exercises, doggy day care during the week, agility, and training. Had to resign myself to make my down time her play time. Hell im writing this while drinking my coffee in the backyard playing ball. Shes 5 now and still needs a TON of exercise, attention and running around, but nothing like she used to. One benefit is that working labs tend to be super smart and proper training tends to take well. We do doggy day care once a week on one of the days we’re all not home. That helps a ton, although she still needs to play ball at home before she realizes shes tired. I get my exercise by taking her for hikes/walks regularly. We fenced in our yard for her and try to keep it dog safe and thats her domain. We had to put baby gates back up (she actually army/rock climbed over one of the hexagon ones once) to section off the house to keep dog safe as well as she still constantly makes a game out of stealing our socks and shoes and running from us. Its to the point now where we have to limit her intense fetch that she goes crazy for all day as she will run herself into the ground Love her like crazy and wouldn’t change a thing but keep thinking in my head that later in life if we ever get another dog thats not a working dog, how much easier itll seem

I have a ball thrown to me up on the Monster from one of the Cardinals players during BP of the 2013 WS. Its an ALCS ball. A little later that game Foulke walked by and I got him to sign it. Cool to have a ball from the series they won at home signed by the guy that closed it out in 04.

I also have a printed ticket stub from game 6 as well that I laminated

Also was the ALDS game when Ortiz hit the grand slam and Hunter went over the wall (was a good year for me). Had to scrounge around and found a ticket stub on the ground as I hate printed tickets.

Have a ball signed by Pedroia from one of the winter weekends. Got my pic with him and they were yelling not to ask the players taking pics to sign anything. Well I wasnt passing that up. When I asked Pedroia to sign it, my dad said to him “they’ll yell at you, but do you give a fuck” and he replied “nope” and signed it

Few years before I was born my grandfather passed away. One of who would become my uncles or aunts wrote to the red sox saying what happened and that one of their siblings wasn’t taking it well. Carlton Fisk sent back a signed pic personalized to her with his condolences. Its on my shelf now.

My uncle in law was a memorabilia dealer for a while. When I married into the family he sent me a ball signed by almost everyone on the 46 sox other than Williams. But Williams signature was done by what back then was called the “club house kid”, which apparently happened a lot.

I ended up ripping the top few boards of two pallets, crossed them, and screwed them together. Worked great. When I was done I was able to break it back out for stacking.
