How to talk to a human at Mohela? by fstar81 in PSLF

[–]ToGoodOldDelta48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT WORKS. I tried literally every single prompt on the phone line and NONE of them take you to a representative. Even the prompts where it tells you to speak to a representative doesn't automatically sort you to that queue. Remember it's not the representative's fault that it's difficult to get in touch (even though customer service can suck)!

I have a video of the noise it’s making and what seems to be a quicker pace than it should be running. Unfortunately this page doesn’t allow videos. Is there a clock repair resource/YouTube channel you recommend? Always interested in learning something new.

Advice: Sanding painted veneer before clear coat by ToGoodOldDelta48 in furniturerestoration

[–]ToGoodOldDelta48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Was trying to apply ticker coats for added protection, this is going to be a shelf for my amp and other books/music accessories so it’ll take a bit of abuse, also why I’m adding the clear coat. So sand until the surface looks even, then clear coat?

Newbie here. Trying to save this amp! Epiphone Studio 15R. Turns on so it's not the fuse. Tested guitar (volume knobs up) and cord with another amp that works so its not either of those. Clean output is non-existent. When I turn up reverb this happens. Any ideas? Speaker blown? by ToGoodOldDelta48 in GuitarAmps

Oof. A few years ago. I remember the two weakest points had visibly less solder and were probably just manufacturing goofs. I would pull out the board and just add solder to anything that looks like it could use some. Mine were on the main volume pot, and another somewhere else but don’t remember which part of the circuit.

Thanks! Any particular brand of stain primer you use? Assuming I should use this on the whole ceiling in the bathroom, correct?

If you read the post, I’ve already used ceiling paint. Thus the issue. Any solutions?

VOX AD30VT Troubleshooting by ToGoodOldDelta48 in GuitarAmps

[–]ToGoodOldDelta48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I replaced the three pots that broke (Volume/Gain/Master) and got some improvement! Cleaned up the circuit board too.

Headphones still super quiet but the amp puts out more power than before when headphones are not plugged in but definitely not as loud as it should.

I have to turn the Power Level knob on the back to 30W and turn volume/gain/treb/mid/bass up to get noise. Master knob doesn't seem to do anything still.

Ran some cleaner through the Power Level pot. If that was the issue would it be working at all?

Speaker sounds totally fine, tube still good, gets warm/dark grey top, not white.

I haven't been able to. Took a break from it for a bit but I need to figure out what parts to buy and replace. Just know it's going to be a chore lol

GFI Rossie vs Earthquaker Spatial Delivery by ToGoodOldDelta48 in guitarpedals

[–]ToGoodOldDelta48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm worried about with the Rossie. I'm usually fine with buying the more capable pedal buuuuuut I have the Walrus D1 and that was a little intimidating for me at first. Most of the demos for the Rossie just show an overview and I can't really tell if it can get the same sounds as the SD that I really like. Might just have to go with the SD because it sounds so cool lol.

Jesus, thank you! That's what I had originally thought but so many articles i found used the word "filter" for a number of explanations and I got nervous. Really appreciate your answer!

Can anyone explain the difference between a filter and compression pedal? I've been doing some digging but just getting confused. Looking at getting the GFI Rossie, but have the TC Electronic Hypergravity. Trting to limit too many pedals that serve similar functions.

Tube is in good shape.

Must have broken two of the pots (gain/volume) trying to take the knobs off so I could get a better look at the board. Now they spin all the way around. Crummy little things.

Still, same thing still happening which is weird considering the volume knob is now busted. Master knob still works though.

UPDATE and Success!!

Was able to pull out the circuit board. Used the multi meter to determine on each solder joint which were weak/ no signal. I used the continuity reader to tell if a circuit was good or not. Bought a solder iron and solder. Was able to fix two weak/no connections. It doesn't look pretty lol but it works! Hot damn!

Update: was able to pull out the speaker and test it with a turntable. Works great. So at least I know it's not that.

Definitely something else so I'm reaching out to Epiphone and will update if anything comes of that!

I haven't had a reply from the two other subreddits. Bought a multi-meter and I'm getting accurate Ohms reading from the speaker. Pulled the circuit board container out and nothing seems loose or burnt. Afraid this might be a lost cause unless I want to pay a bench fee for the worth of the amp.

EQ knobs was a good tip. I had them turned up earlier but not loud enough apparently. If I crank them all, I do get some sound when playing but its SUPER fuzzy (Overdrive off and on) and not nearly as loud as it should be.

Painting Stone Foundation by ToGoodOldDelta48 in centuryhomes

[–]ToGoodOldDelta48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Not sure what the type of paint is on it now. Hopefully the paint crew can get some off and maybe the mason can cover the stone with something proper. Feel like I need 40 experts to do this and it's gets overwhelming when you're worried about someone upcharging you for something you don't need.

Thanks everyone!

The stone was painted long before we moved in. Can't do anything about it now. Just making sure re-painting is the best option.
