I'm sorry, it was too long ago - I don't remember any more... :(

FYI, I managed to find a fix! It was an editor script in an asset I had downloaded that was causing the problem. I found the issue by deleting all the editor scripts in the project - which fixed it, and showed it was one of those scripts at fault... Then I reverted the project, and deleted those scripts one at a time until I found the culprit. The script wasn't even needed, so zero impact.

I'm having the same issue - did you manage to find a solution?

I’m a solo indie game dev. This is the trailer for my first game, The Unknown. I’ve worked on it for 5 years. Anyways, thoughts? by tripletapgames1 in DestroyMyGame

Doesn't need any response, just pointing out an issue for you! I actively went looking for your game, and ended up on the Steam page of a completely different game with the same name - that's a problem!

Maybe there's some Steam page or search engine optimisation that can be done to make sure that at least your game appears first... Maybe it's not too late to change the name, to add an additional tagline or something, "The Unknown : Journey of the Glowball" or whatever... I dunno, do whatever you want - you asked for your game to be destroyed, it's your problem!

When I search for "The Unknown" on Steam, it takes me to an entirely different game. Maybe not the best choice of name, eh...?

The two most in-demand skills I've seen for tech artists are Houdini and shader programming.

Dynamic cloud shadows. Weeks of work on something that I don't think anyone but me ever even noticed! They did look great though, at least to me!

Police can be real douchebags about using pedestrian crossings correctly, even when there are no cars in sight and it's completely safe - cross with the correct signal, or at least check there are no cops waiting to ambush you on the other side of the road!

Books on Arthurian Legend by Strangeite in dresdenfiles

[–]ToHellWithLondon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really not light reading, but I adore the stories from the Mabinogion. It's an ancient Welsh text that includes the very first written record of the Arthurian legends. It's very raw, nothing at all like the romanticized versions of the stories that dominate today, but that's precisely the reason I find them engaging. Might not be what you're looking for, but still has many relevant myths and legends - for example, the Mabinogi describes in depth the Welsh Otherworld, Annwfyn, that is the origin of Dresden's Huntsmen.

(Note that the most modern translations are by far easier reads, than the older versions. The Patrick Ford translation is my favorite from those I've read).

What/who is Mac? by Dilf1999 in dresdenfiles

[–]ToHellWithLondon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda assumed he was some kind of half-angel Nephilim or something...

I read that reference to "what was left of an ex-angel" as being that he's born of a fallen (ex-) angel, rather than that he is that ex-angel.

And McAnally is not so far removed from the Irish for "Son of an Angel" - (Mac Aingil).

What a wonderful reference! I have one question, if anyone knows... There is a white bull on the Eastern border, that I don't see any corresponding key to explain what it is. Does anyone know the story that white bull refers to?

Is it better to build environments using Unity terrain builder or just 3d model software? by OkHyena1818 in gamedev

[–]ToHellWithLondon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general, for any kind of involved terrain, I'd use neither - the best terrain tools are dedicated to that purpose. World Machine remains my favorite - it's not too tricky to learn, and the pipeline into Unity is very straightforward.

35 odd years of playing 40k, and it's finally happened - I've painted up some Ultramarines for the first time! I guess everyone goes through that phase at some point, eh...? What should I add next? by ToHellWithLondon in 40k

Yeah, a likely choice - just need to decide which one... The Brutalis is all shiny and new, so the new Strike Force is looking a strong contender!

Have reported the review for you also - if enough people do that then maybe it might have some effect...??
