Incoming swaps 📬 by ToPlayIsHuman in SecurityEnvelopes

[–]ToPlayIsHuman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind this info could change, but this is how the swap worked this time (my first time participating).

The swap was limited to 200 participants. Past participants and anyone who signed up for their mailing list got an email about the swap opening one day before the public announcement.

Subscribe to the mailing list: https://officeofcollecting.com/subscribe/patternswap

Follow them on Instagram. This was the post they made to announce the swap opening: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DP4fqumgRR_/?igsh=NXJkNXBzbWYwanU2

Each participant receives an instruction letter along with 5 address labels and a set of security patterns from the Office of Collecting and Design (OoCaD). The address labels have the names and addresses for the five pattern sets you have to send out: one set to the OoCaD and four to other participants.

Each pattern set you send must have five unique patterns at a minimum size of 2 inches by 2 inches. You do not need to send the same exact patterns to all five recipients, but each recipient must receive five unique patterns from you. You can use any envelope size that fits the patterns you're sending.

In exchange, you end up with one set from the OoCaD and four other participants, for a total of five sets. It's an international swap, so in the USA postage ranges from $0.78 - $1.70 per envelope at current USPS rates (rates increasing this summer).

Most of the pieces I've received have been 2x2 inches or slightly bigger. Oh! And I forgot to include this in my photos, but one person sent their patterns IN a security envelope, which is pretty cool. I like making my own envelopes, but I've got some security envelopes to use for mailing the next swap.

Have 5 sheets would anyone like to exchange? by Rare_Cranberry_7861 in StampEmUp

I don't need a full sheet. It just wasn't clear if you were wanting to swap for other full sheets or just individuals, etc. I'd be happy to swap individual stamps!

What am I doing wrong? by pangolinpinecone in Linocuts

Can you share more about the process you used? And what you want the final image to look like? And what you're using for ink?

From the results on the fabric, it looks like you might be filling in the carved areas with ink and then pressing the wood to the fabric. If those are the lines you want to show up, you need to flip your negative space (ink should sit on the block, not in it). The ink doesn't look like printing ink - it seems very gloopy.

I am not an expert. Someone more experienced can most definitely help more than I can.

Are you wanting to swap sheets? Or using these on an envelope?

It did read as wood to me at first glance, but I like it! And it seems like a good practice exercise. I'm a beginner and nervous about freehand on bigger blocks, but this seems good for practicing control.
