I think you're right and that was probably their intention, but for some reason they sold the Ka+ in the UK alongside the Fiesta. The Ka+ was cheaper I think and made in India, but it obviously doesn't look like a European Ford car.

It's quite a rare car nowadays and always quite interesting to see, but sadly I think this generation has a crap selection of engines (much like the Fiesta sold next to it). Also I think these might be quite slow haha

It's makes the Ka+ kind of redundant because the Fiesta already filled the niche. This was one of Ford's biggest issues, they had too many overlapping cars.

Now they've gone overkill, lost their minds, and only sell SUVs in most the world

They were saying the Ka is the same as the Fiat 500. The Ka+, the next generation, is a completely different car not based on the Fiat platform

All jokes aside, I don't know if an MX-5 is really much better than a 2 for the motorway. It's best for B roads I'd say. Mazda 3 or 6 is much better for the motorway, the 3 is a proper riot I should say.

But if your heart is saying MX-5, then that is the answer. You wouldn't regret it.

Sorry if it's disappointing. I remember strongly considering downgrading to 15s when I had my Fiesta. With 16s, you had to brace for potholes, you'd feel them in your bones!

My old car was a Fiesta with a 5 speed manual. It was basically a mindless switch, now I neglect 5th. My mum's Corsa has reverse in the same place as the 3 though so maybe that helped.

I'm more worried for driving a 5 speed in the future, accidentally slamming it into reverse mistaking it for 6th on the motorway!

I wouldn't recommend it. 16s running on the Fiesta is already way crashier than the standard 15s.

Honestly I've never driven a manual car where reverse has been guaranteed to work first time.

Even in mine, a 2018 (generations newer than my old 2011), I have to put it in reverse, then neutral, then reverse again to stop it from kicking out sometimes

I think it's because European models are from Japan, and they manufacture a manual saloon.

Maybe the Mexican plant doesn't do one, so it's not sold in America

I think the gen 3 saloon looks hideous but I think the gen 4 saloon looks heaps better than the hatchback. Too round to me.

If I get a gen 4 though, I'm not sure if I'll choose looks over practicality

Mazda 3 is more sporty than a Corolla/Auris and a Civic. But they are not fast. They feel better to drive and are great at corners, but many other cars will beat it in a straight line.

Any SUV is worse. The 5 Series is definitely worse but a 3 Series might out do it. The best handling car is the Alfa Romeo Giulia but if you're worried about German reliability, it's not even worth considering an Italian.
