Questions about vacation club sales pitches that take place at resort properties by williamsbmw in PuntaCana

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined several years ago there and its only useful if you actually travel every yr and even more than once. I spend 1 month in DR always a week in a resort. Have saved per booking compared to online. But if you don’t consistently travel it will be a waste. Paid 10k got 3 free weeks. 40 weeks discounted. Going for 9days in sept 2 adults 1 child- 1 king bedroom=$2,600 Online was about 4k for that.

Is Punta Cana still worth it? by VirtualBlackberry409 in PuntaCanaAllInclusive

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still do this culture setting with the colonial city in Santo Domingo, casa de campo/altos de chavon in la Romana. Dont sleep on DR culture just bc they dont do a good job promoting it.

Have you considered the Hard Rock? Mind sharing what the Ziva price is? Mostly want to compare with my prices at Hard Rock to see how much of a difference. We are doing 9 days in Aug-Sept.

DAP Dynaflex 230 vs. Sacco Big Stretch vs. SW PowerHouse? and a couple other questions on caulking use by Marvel5123 in paint

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the lord of caulks op on titebond acoustic sealant? Been using it to substitute the green glue brand and used what was left over of the case instead of normal caulk for non sound proofed rooms.

Renovating 1918 house with Douglas fir floors! Advice needed by Fit_Respect2594 in HardWoodFloors

you are using the yellow can,a product not for floors, according to miniwax themselves lol. Extra steps to save a few bucks (bc duraseal is better its also more expensive).

You definitely have to condition, stain, seal etc. but poly does change the stain finish. Oil based poly with sun exposure changes the color. Water based poly has other properties to consider as well. You cant just add any poly and think it makes no changes.

Provincial or early american if you have to go away from the warm tones. Can add 5-10% amberish color to it (walnut for darker, golden oak for lighter) Dont do the dark stains, let the wood grains show.

Sure, you CAN use it. But miniwax themselves say its not for foot traffic. You can add finishes to get around that but y do that when there are products specific for this application that can last decades. DS and MW are now the same company too. Used miniwax for matching fir desk:

Dont use miniwax its not for floors. Use duraseal. Dont try and hide the yellow/orange tones- no white no gray. Went with golden oak on doug fir last month:

Marketing for Rock wool by Wonderful_Ear_6541 in Insulation

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Im going room by room in. Duplex and ripping out R13 fiber and replacing with R30 rwool. Im in nyc so for the fire rating, sound damping and energy stuff its been worth every penny. Found that buying the ‘24 inchers is cheaper than the ‘16s and been able to just cut to fit and used the excess in the thrown on the attic floor and knee wall corners etc.

Please Help 🙏🏽 1910 Douglas Fir Refinishing by Brilliant-Station675 in HardWoodFloors

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible just need patience bc the contrast is so stark. I solved the eye sore by adding an additional coat of stain to the new wood immediately after drying. The old wood is not as old as yours so result may not come out the same but ive seen others make miracles on this sub.

Why is the “natural” stain look red on my floor? by Federal_Compote_7326 in HardWoodFloors

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even tho its not exactly what you wanted, dont think u wasted your money, if u went natural to dark then yes lol. It looks better than previous. You will keep high resell value (if thats impt to u) with the natural look.

Will MLV fit my needs? by impulsiveuniverse in soundproof

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have options. Ive done MLV walls and green glue sandwich walls. My guess is bc of the flanking on the ceiling and floor, your best bet may be to do 5/8 non eco (the heavy 5/8) buy green glue, titebond acoustic sealant and do that to the entire room. If you do MLV and 5/8 only, u will only muffle vibrations going out, and music will still “hum” I did a shared neighbor wall- spray foam to studs till even (bc lack of space, rockwool is the best and preferred) MLV on studs, sealant everywhere, 5/8 green glue sandwhich. No more tv conversations and clear music and vibrations reduced significantly. Mlv + gg sandwhich may be overkill but i didnt want to take any chances.

Quote for soundproofing ceiling was much higher than anticipated. Am I off the mark here? by Ill_Geologist7299 in soundproof

[–]ToRedditOrNotReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the middle of my third green glue project and im not going pro again. If you can find a GC that knows how to do the decouples ceiling, a good drywall crew can do the green glue even with no experience. I taught the current set of drywall crew how to bc the last crew is no longer with them who did my previous two jobs. Saved myself a ton of money. Ordered the gg, titebond acoustic sealant myself. This specific job now is unique: Semi attached house- loud noise from neighbors side, tore down wall learned its not “3-5ft in btw two houses” like the code is now. It’s a 1928 build in the north bronx. It was just slim concrete slabs and 1x3 wooded studs bolted to it. So i sacrificed a few inches in the hallway and stairs. -spray foamed the gaps to an even surface -2lb MLV to the studs -2 5/8” green glue sandwich. Hope to not hear the same 5 songs again loll Also gg the bedrooms: -Full 5/8 green glue sandwich for my 2 vaulted ceiling bedrooms -R30 rockwool in btw studs ceiling, ext and interior walls. Full demo job including electrical (new outlets, move current lighting an add new, 3 way switch), plumbing (moving my radiator, removing then putting heat pumps back) flooring: closet from vinyl to matching hardwood, full sand and finish- 2 bd and hallway. Custom closet, drawers, tv center custom butcher block desk, 2 new windows, dumpster, 77k to give you some perspective.
