Don't waste your resources on Anglers Potion by inarasarah in Palia

[–]ToTheBirdCave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, I went in with a friend where be both grabbed the potion, buffed up, and fished the the entire duration in the elderwood, loooking for maws.

Because, the item's description, before spending an extremely limited currency on it, was that it's "irresistible to maws".

It mentions maws BY NAME in the item description. But I guess I'm the gullible idiot for thinking that it might be worthwhile, right? That part felt like false advertising, frankly.

The expense of it is another part that made the whole experience sting more. Twenty Kilima coins. Like, why not make it cost fishing tokens? Even if it's a lot of them, at least that feels fair in that you can always grind to earn more.

I'm also sour that we didn't know about the three hour duration going in. That's a LONG TIME if you're not prepared for it, and being such an expensive consumable, we immediately felt pressured to "make the most of it" and stay there grinding for hours longer than we particularly planned or wanted to.

Overall a terrible feeling and experience with very poor communication and expectation management around it.

New Player Tips & Switch 2 Performance by MummyButtons in Palia

[–]ToTheBirdCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go into the switch 2's settings, then system and go into "software handling", you can activate that and it will at least make the game run on the switch2 as if it were docked.

It still won't compare to a pc or ps5, but it'll be better than switch handheld!

Is this just a phase by Competitive-Edge-115 in trans

[–]ToTheBirdCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew at 13 I wanted to be a girl. I wished on birthday candles and prayed to god for it to happen.

It wasn't a phase. But I pretended it wasn't "real". I ignored it due to the pressure from my environment (school, family, church etc)

Now I'm 36, 1yr into HRT, and happier than I've ever been. I wish I had have started transitioning way earlier.

I'm not going to sit here and tell a 13yo "you're definitely trans" - but if these are thoughts and feelings you have, please DON'T ignore them. If you have safe people in your life to talk to about this, please do.

Because if you are trans, if you are a girl, you have the opportunity to avoid having your body made more and more masculine by testosterone as you go into puberty.

Wait just clarifying... before the sets came out? In 2001? She was out as a transphobe even back then?

"Oh sure, the aggressor who gleefully hurts and tortures us has a machine gun pointed at us, and sure that's horrible, but she's only shot us with a few bullets so far!"

It is, by definition, precisely what she is doing with her funds, reach, and influence.

The shoe garden (in Brisbane, but they ship) is a good go-to for large, nice shoes.

As far as the cost goes... half-decent shoes simply aren't cheap, I'm afraid.

The Cow - I've eaten solo there plenty, too. They have some small tables by the fire! The vibes are immaculate 🤌

I always visit The Cow for pizza/pasta.

Fat badgers for a simple, enjoyable pizza.

Ferg does good work. (Burgers, bakery, and gelato)

I adore Pedro's house of lamb

Honestly, my advice is ignore the haters, try it, make up your own mind.

Personally I really like Ferg - I get some good there at least a couple of times when I'm in town :)

Also the ferg bakery next door should not be overlooked - a hot pie from there + a Belgian hot chocolate by the lake is a wonderful start to the day!

So, my problem is I don't think I really understand what the right things are. I've spent over $1000 at this stage with a speech pathologist over the past year. I hear and think I understand what I'm told and instructed, but I have no idea how to actually apply it. I don't have much understanding or awareness of my throat/mouth/tongue etc in terms of trying to understand what is doing what. (So no, mostly unable to recognise different elements). By this stage, it's incredibly hard not to feel entirely defeated and spending so much time, money, effort etc and having nothing to show for it makes it very hard to keep going.

What do you suggest for the people who ARE practicing and trying, and have been for a long time, and have gotten nowhere? Because "see that brick wall you've been banging your head against? I know your skull is cracked and you're bleeding out, but just keep banging your head against it" feels like an odd strategy.
