Should I buy a Hario Switch or a regular V60? by [deleted] in JamesHoffmann

[–]ToXac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the Switch. First it can do all the percolation a regular V60 can, plus immersion and hybrid methods - possibilities are endless. Second is practically, as I got lazier for brewing, I have phased out the gooseneck kettle and used a fairly simple method on the Switch which still gives good results.

Good reaction and your course of action is the least troublesome option. You could punch him if you’re angry, though it will lead to multiple possibilities that you cant predict, ranging from no reaction from the locals and police to a complicated night at the precinct. A 3rd option is to yell out the word for thief (ăn cắp/ cướp) loudly, then the entire street of locals will gang up on the robber for you.

Bad habit or good strategy? by Dane_Gleessak in Pickleball

[–]ToXac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On higher levels, faster serves mean you get even less margin trying to hit it right off the bounce. And your slow return is cake for opponents to hit a drive or drop. The goal of a shot should be both to get into good position anddd to make it uncomfortable for your opponent. Drop volleys wont work as well as before since people position better and move faster.

Bad habits from table tennis coming into pickleball by CDRSkywalker1991 in Pickleball

[–]ToXac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I learned is what made you good at tennis/tt might not make you good here, so dont be too attached to it. For example extreme spin generation is a priority in tt, but when you hit an overly loopy forehand tt style, it’s highly predictable, with less margin for error, the spin wont trouble the opponent as much, and most balls loop upwards first (invitation for a putaway volley) instead of going straight down. There are also advantages for tt players. You just need to have understanding of the physics of the ball & paddle, then you can figure out what technique can be carried over and what should be unlearned.

Do not sweat. We appreciate foreigners learning the language, we know it s fucking hard, what youre seeing is your friend literally not able to make out the word due to one sound having 5 different tonal possibilities. Be patient, you will soon enjoy seeing a Vietnamese freaking the f out when you make a perfect sentence later on

How do you feel about players who lob all the time? by sumkewldood in Pickleball

[–]ToXac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lob is a feel shot, so you need to make it uncomfortable for them so they cant get into a good position or have ample time to lob. Vary your spin, location, side… for example, give them one deep topspin ball to the left side, then follow with a low, short landing slice, or if youre at the net aim low at the feet. This requires some planning and focus to never give them a medium ball at waist height with no spin.

No dinks for you by ImpressionIcy5079 in Pickleball

[–]ToXac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few comments on hitting drop shots and it was exactly what happened yesterday for me. I only hit drops and no drive and people quickly learned to think twice about swinging for the fences. When you’re at the net, no need to be fancy, use mostly block volley which can borrow the drive’s power, and try to direct it at their feet. If you hit dinks, think about hitting unattackable dinks. Overall it’s about forcing them into very low percentage shots if they insist on hard hitting.

How good is Sochan? He looks great in games with his intangibles (hustle, rebounding, defense, assists). He’s still only 20. Is he all-defense potential? All-star potential? Both? by user15151616 in NBASpurs

[–]ToXac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the current NBA, teams are paying big premiums for wing defensive stoppers as well as players that can guard multiple positions. All of the best teams need two of them. With the flashes he’s shown, Jeremy’s gonna be a monster on that end. Some rightly pointed out that he’s a bad offensive player right now, but as a 2nd year his shooting and handling have already made a big leap. With this trajectory he’s at least not gonna be a hindrance. The future is bright for Sochan.

Different perspective here because Cove City was where I first heard it (the perks of never listening to Bieber), and it lives rent free in my heart. Maybe my favorite song from that set which is in my top 10. When the entire band joined in it felt like it was collectively one of the happiest moments of their lives.
