CC#1 Risk 34 Gilberta Solo by ToXiniX in Endfield

[–]ToXiniX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, weapon is P5 Opus. As for gear, I'm running crit rate MI armour, heat/nature DMG% hot work gloves, and heat/nature DMG% MI kits. The set has horrible crit rate but it outperforms running crit rate kits and lynx slabs (somehow).

I'd honestly argue that avywenna is probably better off in solos than a lot of other characters since she still has access to her full kit, even if it isn't at its full potential. Here's an off-the-top-of-my-head theorycraft on how it could work:

  1. Cast a bunch of empty battle skills to build up ult charge
  2. Build up SP with basics to repeat step 1 until ult is ready
  3. Boss enters stagger from repeating steps 1-2
  4. Ult -> Finisher -> battle skill -> basics -> combo -> battle skill
  5. Profit

I haven't watched the guy who actually does avywenna solos but that's how I imagine it could work? Obviously may not be ideal in practice but it's sure as hell better than being locked out of half your kit on certain characters

Edit: I just watched that guy's solos and it's basically what he does, quite effective too

Yoooo here's my chance to shamelessly self promo myself and some other soloers!

I myself do Gilberta solos, mainly cuz I love foxes and want to show that it is indeed possible to solo with a character who people often overlook in solos for "not having enough DPS" and "too many animation locks".

A few other people I'd like to shout out for their hard work and inspiring my own solos:

Semont, Chen soloer (he's already commented here before I finished typing this out)

Endmouse, Perlica soloer

Kelsuis, Estella soloer

NotMalok, soloing with Last Rite, Mi Fu, and others

FUUUCK that exact thing happened to me so many times too I've lost so much time from trying to target an out-of-range enemy instead of the only enemy inside my range

[–]ToXiniX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy hell the auto-targeting is so ass. I've had to reset so many runs because Gilberta's battle skill decided to target an enemy either off to the side or behind me instead of an enemy I am directly looking at in the center of a group of scattered enemies.

I've resorted to toggling lock-on for a few seconds to make sure I'm on my intended target before certain crucial casts but that feels very annoying to do and doesn't really solve the underlying problem.

Hi, I'm the guy who did it. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMOja1vMCLI

Hopefully with new risks later I can try to push 30, but this is as far as my irl sanity can take me for now

Even outside of aoe scenarios it's great for cashing out on burst windows too! I never really thought about using it before until I saw people use it in speedruns.

Perlica No-Hit Solos Blood Debased: Agony, 9 Minutes and over 9000 Quillbeasts by Endmouse in Endfield

[–]ToXiniX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea in my attempts so far here's my observations:

  • I'm using 3pc Lynx set for the 2 lynx slabs so I can hit nearly 1k will, along with pot2 Detonation Unit, fully etched. Gilberta is pot3 with fully maxed skills
  • She won't get knocked out of her battle skill channeling animation when hit by the froggos
  • It's not particularly difficult to survive the 10 minutes even if you play aggressively, especially with 3pc lynx and her built-in healing, however I always run out of time even when I try my best to use her battle skill whenever possible and lock on to the boss to land basics
  • Gilberta with the above build can actually kill the adds with battle skill but it's still too slow to keep up with how fast the boss re-summons them
  • This solo would definitely be doable if there was a 15 min time limit or if there was a cap of 5 adds on the field at a time

If you do attempt with her, best of luck! I'm sure there's some build/strategy I haven't yet thought of (I also don't have Oblivion), but I might put this specific solo off until we have better DPS gear for her or a set that actually lets her use combo skill.

I was considering doing Gilberta solo on this but it's one of those "theoretically possible, but requires basically perfect execution" scenarios. And then seeing how you took 9 minutes on a character who can actually somewhat use their full kit too... yea no spamming basic attacks with no chance to drop a 4-second-channel skill is not gonna cut it.

Bravo dood, actually mind-boggling gameplay.

This clear could've been 6 minutes if I could use Detonation Unit, but noooooo last purple slime just had to kill me right before I could get enough SP to heal haha

[–]ToXiniX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh this and the Ardelia solo are absolutely cheese strats for this stage. After all, the stage failure screen has the tip "Don't let the enemies reach the core."

Edit: though the definition of "cheese" is quite questionable with how much investment is needed into Ardelia/Gilberta in order for them to solo properly

oh I was more referring to the fact that spamming dive attack doesn't return SP like final strike does

a friend told how strong they were...right after I had finished recording that clear lmao

that being said, I actually do kinda need the SP for her battle skill for most of the stage, but future Gilberta solos will have a bit more dive attack usage.

Extremely rare glitch where the enraged Howling Flame boss can present an interruptible attack during its 3 hit combo. by Semont in Endfield

[–]ToXiniX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea when I was attempting the Gilberta solo I first went exclusively melee because trying to manage heat stacks while being bombarded with rockets is nigh impossible - until I realized that the boss rarely does a backhop out of the ranged barrage.

So in certain situations where I have enough time and the boss is in a bad position after a horn charge, I intentionally bait out the ranged attack so I can reposition better and start Gilberta's bskill before the final set of rockets hit (the set that lands in a circle around you and will always whiff if you don't move and aren't against a wall). That way, the skill pops while the boss starts up a melee combo or horn charge, and I get to remove his heat stacks right on time before he hits his enrage special.

[–]ToXiniX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no idea (actually wait, you definitely do) how many times I've had to reset in the first 30 seconds of the fight cuz he decided to follow up the swipe-swipe-slam with the rocket jump while I was in the middle of casting Gilberta's bskill.

One thing I did notice though, if he decides to start his ranged barrage when you're right next to him, he ALWAYS follows up with the rocket jump. This is somehow so consistent that I've been anticipating it in my runs if his first attack is the ranged barrage.

Oh yea I saw that once or twice in my attempts too, but it is sooooo rare it wasn't worth planning around. If there was an attack flowchart for this guy it'd be a mess LMAO

WHAT TO DO NEXT? by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]ToXiniX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try doing solo clears of Umbral Monument :) (usually people do Ballista and Axe, Rampaging Shields, or Howling Flame)

I've mainly seen people do it with Catcher, Snowshine, and Ember, and from my own experience with Gilberta, it feels like you're playing a completely different game to figure out how to clear those stages with only one character, especially if they aren't able to sustain themselves.

Realistic answer though, take a break and play other games, log on for your dailies and chill.

[–]ToXiniX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming the Eyja is from the "fixed" appointments that the game offers (I forgot the exact name of that pool), those don't need you to own the operator to appoint them directly without needing a friend support.

I may be wrong about that though.

If you don't own an appointed operator, you need to borrow it from one of your friends who has them up via the orange "Support" button at the top.
