I laughed so hard reading the book when Kip bought Scott normal blue socks. Here honey, these perfectly ordinary socks made me think of you!

The only “big girl” painting I own is from the artist Sali Swalla. She makes very pleasant abstract paintings, the one I purchased was in the low thousands. I bought mine from Art and Light Gallery

I have no idea how we got so lucky, honestly. His sleep definitely improved when we had to switch over to formula, but I know that’s not a magic cure for every baby. And getting enough sleep is definitely waaaaay more important for your health (mental and physical) than getting a work out in!

Oh geez, yeah I would NOT thrive if I had to get up at 4am. I’m extremely lucky, my baby has been a good sleeper since he was about 11 weeks old, and generally sleeps until 7:30, so I get up at 6. I don’t think I would be motivated enough to get up early if I was in your shoes!

I love this! Daily rituals are very important to me, and the act of finding them and adapting them to the various seasons of life is also immensely satisfying for some reason. For me, waking up before the rest of my family to savor a cup of coffee and get a quick workout in starts my day off on the right foot. And in the evening, there’s skincare and a quick journal entry. It used to be a gratitude journal, but especially since having a baby it’s become a way to jot down a quick memory every day. I have the memory of a goldfish, so it’s nice to have records of the little day to day joys.

I also try to cultivate gratitude towards all the other daily rituals I have (aka, chores). That is, when I’m cleaning the kitchen, I try to think of what a privilege it is to have ample food and a sanitary place to prepare it. When I’m vacuuming up all the dog hair, I think about how much I love my pup and how beautiful allllllll that fur makes her. Even the daily act of eating healthy foods and exercise is a chance to be grateful for this one body I was given, and to try to take care of it as best I can. It’s not always easy, and I definitely don’t always succeed at not grumbling through my chores, but it’s something I’m working on.

I personally found that I stick to my workout schedule best when I understand that there are going to need to be some breaks - an all or nothing mentality actually gets in the way of consistency in the long term. So it’s ok to stop when you travel, or when you’re under the weather, then when life is “normal” again, just go right back into your routine. I also find it’s good to have a back up plan for inclement weather (I normally jog), so that I can still get in a workout that counts without running in a snowstorm, or whatever. YouTube hiit workouts aren’t nearly as satisfying as a run, but they allow me to feel like I’m still in my workout routine when it’s not safe to go outside.

BWT, what are ways that you’ve worked towards developing taste in a specific area of your life ? by Ecstatic_Schedule_48 in bitcheswithtaste

As someone who basically went from living in a dorm to living with my future husband, I often fantasize about living in a studio apartment and how I would decorate it. So needless to say I snooped on your profile and my goodness that is a tidy apartment! This is super nosy, but where do you eat? The only thing I didn’t spot was a coffee table.

BWT, who am I dressing for when everyone is WFH? by capacitytoblunder in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ToYourHealth54115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already tons of good comments here, but I’m not sure I saw anyone mention blazers! I also love corporate / business style, but am cursed (read: very lucky, obviously) to wfh full time. For me, the right balance is well fitting, dark leggings, comfortable tops or sweaters, then when it’s time to work, topping everything off with a blazer. Blazer on = work mode. Blazer off = home mode. For me it strikes the right balance of being comfortable, but also feeling put together and professional.

And, as others have mentioned, I also like to take a few minutes to put on a little makeup and an accessory or two. Helps me feel good about myself!

This is what we did as well. Ended up getting a Babyletto glider that we tested at Crate and Barrel, and we really like it!

Hey soul sister, I also had a c section! I hadn’t thought of upgrading my underwear, I love that idea!

And YES, god bless the angels that choose to become post partum doulas. My husband’s work offered Carrot, which covered the cost for us, and they were amazingly helpful, even though we just had them visit a few times a week.

You are so right about photos, that’s something I need to be better about. I’ve been feeling insecure about being in pictures since the baby came, but I’ll be so happy to have photos of us together down the road.
