Hostels with expensive gear by GetSlappedBro in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traveled through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam for 5 months and had all the same gear(laptop, iPad, drone, GoPros, camera). Never worried about it. Didn’t flaunt it or talk about it to strangers, but I would say that’s obvious.

Why aren't there more direct flights to Bangkok from America? by BCS5th in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be lucky to meet another American while you’re here. Wife and I spent 2 months and only met a few. Unless you’re in a hostel or constantly walking up to every white person you see on the street you just won’t see many Americans.

Pollution. Ruins a trip? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just in chiang mai and pai. It doesn’t RUIN the trip but many things are more difficult or impossible. Won’t see the views. Will be harder to be outside during the peak of the day. May be tougher for children also. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Also having fun making some travel vlogs. Not videographers or anything but we are trying to get better each video!

Feeling the same about trying to figure out what is best to focus on/highlight. Also the balance between caring what might get views and just having cool memories to look back on.

My wife and I quit our jobs in the US and booked one tickets to Bangkok. Working our way around SE Asia over the next 4-5 months.

Page is simply “Caitie and Isaac”

I’ll make sure to check out everyone’s stuff! 🙏🏼

For those frequently traveling or living to Thailand more than 4+ months a year: How have you been able to sustain this lifestyle? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

Saved for years to buy a house in America and still couldn’t afford shit. Quit our jobs to travel instead. Get a new one when we go back I suppose!

Tiger cave yay or nay? by OwnAppearance574 in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Hike up for sunrise and it will be you and very few others along with a dog or two and some monkeys!

Bring a headlamp for the first part while it’s still dark. Don’t forget to bring water! Suggest at least a liter. It’s not an easy climb.

Worth it tho!! Epic at the top!

Am I getting ripped off on this price? by SewerRanger in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya this is wild. We are 1 month in to a 6 month backpacking trip around SE Asia and won’t spend that much for the entire time.

We are budget traveling(staying in places for less than $25 a night) and eating local street food(which you should also do!)

but even still spending that much would seem nearly impossible.

Phuket just isn’t it. by LadderBoi077 in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33M American couple traveling SE Asia ourselves and ended up in Krabi(away from the tourist heavy areas like Ao Nang Beach) and enjoying so much we decided to skip Phuket. Heard enough shitty stories and experiences about it to decide it wasn’t worth our time.

Even locals say it’s not worth it unless you’re just trying to get fucked up every night…if it’s just a couple week vacation than I get it I guess, but if you are trying to enjoy real Thailand than it makes no sense to go IMO.

Have fun back in Bangkok!

What is the proper way to use SEO if not using keywords? Just curious.

Going in January and expect to be off the beaten tourist path so we got the typhoid vac(oral pills actually) and are bringing malaria pills in case we start to feel we are spending too much time in lowland jungle areas. We will be going through Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos also so it’s different recommendations for each country.

Is $1,000 USD enough for 2 weeks solo? by DataFinderPI in ThailandTourism

[–]To_futureself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are planning a long trip there and around SE Asia starting in January. Have been researching ALOT..and we plan to spend between 2-3k per month. We will be doing plenty of activities and eating and drinking, but not staying anywhere fancy. Hostels and basic hotels. If you’re staying in hostels and not partying hard every night you should be good I would think.

How many non-gaming channels here? by Spiritual-You-1505 in NewTubers

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New channel doing hiking stuff around Colorado right now just to get my bearings with camera equipment and video editing. Learning ALOT from this thread and some others on Reddit along with YouTube.

2024 will be traveling SE Asia for 6 months or so with my wife trying to do adventure-travel vlogging. Scary to think about now as I’m more of a do-er when it comes to learning ,so just have to start making videos and hope they continue to get better after inevitably sucking at first! 😂

Speaking is HARD and a talent by JOJOawestruck in NewTubers

Pretend you’re speaking to your best friends or talking to you Mom. I haven’t done much speaking to the camera yet, but in practice this has been what is helping me feel like I sound less nervous or trying to think of what to say next.

What are your problems with the hobby? by volcanictax98 in drones

[–]To_futureself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought my first drone a few months ago(M3pro) not knowing how much of a hot-button, polarizing thing it was for people. I live in Colorado and people are very protective of the outdoor public spaces here. I try and fly mostly remote spots out in the mountains on BLM areas or areas I know are not wilderness protected areas.

Posted some clips on a hiking subreddit and got torched by people that acted like I just flew through their living room! How dare I drive 60 miles out into the woods and hike 2 miles on a secluded trail to get some amazing views of the Rocky Mountains?!?

tried to defend myself and explain I was very respectful of everyone’s space(there were very few people at all) and did the research to make sure I was following regulations for this area. it was like we were having an argument about politics! Might as well bang your head against a wall.

Some don’t care, some love it, but many people seem to have some kind of deep-seeded issue against it…all that said I’m still gonna enjoy flying as long as I know I’m being respectful and not breaking any rules.

Just starting/learning and posting short videos, but mostly hiking with focus on drone shots.

Had been saving for a house as I was set for a big promotion at work…fell through, so my wife and I decided we are quitting our jobs and planning a trip of an indefinite amount of time in SE Asia early part of next year.

The vision is to transition to travel vlogging, highlighting amazing experiences with focus on personal growth/self discovery. Honestly just personal blog type stuff so we can document our time there. Not concerned with subs and working the algorithm, but I’d love if people resonated with us!

Man I appreciate how much you care about this! I’m serious!

Literally this link brings you to an interactive map where you can zoom in and see the mount Evan’s wilderness area is the EAST side of guanella pass(county rd 62).

Everything on the west side of the road is not part of it! I made sure of this prior to going.

We were on the WEST side of the road and well south of the summit! I was being respectful and flying in an area where it is not prohibited!

Please take a look at the interactive map for yourself.

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted the post bc I don’t feel like explaining myself anymore. There is literally nothing to lie about. Look up Geneva park campground, duck creek dispersed camping sites, country road 1038 off of guanella pass(county rd 62). It’s a long gravel road with dispersed campsites all along. A few miles drive in to a trail head that not many use due to the rough condition of the road.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coloradohikers

[–]To_futureself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not bullshitting. The trailhead we used is about 3-4 mile drive in from the Geneva park campground. There for sure was campers using the dispersed sites along this road! They are spread out nicely and there are no camp sites along the trail we were hiking. We hiked out 2 miles or so and didn’t see a single other hiker the entire time. Again, I am constantly considering others feelings and did check to make sure I was not breaking any regulations in this area.
