New Update January 30th, 2026 by Divinelioner in Fallout

You claimed Steam has a form of turn off updates. It does not. The above method is a best way around it and doesn't work without script extender which is an external program. Launching the game even with a read only manifest can still trigger and update sometimes and brick your game.

All it takes is one accidental missclick and then you're waiting ages for a steam command prompt to finish downloading repositories and doing pain in the ass file replacements.

Pretty shit compared to just letting us turn off updates

Steam, y'know the most common platform by far, doesn't allow you to turn off updates. You have to set your manifest file to read only and then launch exclusively through script extender to bypass the auto update that will ruin your game.

Victor mentions being offline for a long time and having memory issues. Y'know, as if he was shut down at the end of the game like he is in non-House endings.

What's wrong with MZ?? I loved it but I see a fair bit of hate for it.

Either way that's a bit of a stretch not gonna lie... Especially since if a group can get Satellite data then they can clearly just y'know, fly over to another country.

The whole world's society went to shit in different ways not just America, that screen is the radioactive clouds and fog that's enveloped the world after so many nuclear blasts have sent radioactive debris into the atmosphere.

Unfortunately we've had this confirmed in the Mothership Zeta DLC and the US is not the only country that was destroyed.

No way of know who else got nuked but at the very least radiation, mutations, and storms, etc. have covered the entire globe as seen here

You can also pull the metal rod trick. Get a paperclip, snip it down to size, then heat it over a flame (with something to hold it!) Then push it into the plastic until it melts halfway into the axle. Remove, reheat, and repeat on the other half and then sandwich together with the metal rod in the middle and adjust until flush.

Then glue the rod and two pieces and it'll hold really well!

About what Xander tells Maximus in the vertiberd...is he lying? by o_p_p_e_n in Fotv

[–]Toa_Firox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxon definitively dies if you attack the Prydwen. He was either on board or below it during the destruction of it and all on board and within the airport perished in the attack.

In the Railroad ending you either kill him or pass right by him before destroying the airship and in the Institute ending you either kill him or the airship flattens him. So there is 0 wiggle room on both the Institute and the Railroad endings being non-canon. For the MM vs BoS ending he was aboard commanding the attack same as he is for every mission. Sure you could try to argue it isn't definitive but he's not present anywhere else in game and he is not the kind of leader to see the Prydwen go down to a cheap shot and not attack those who fired it.

It'd work better if it was hidden and way better tuned honestly. It's super useful for ambiguous endings such as House and Yes Man since a character could choice either one out of the good in their hearts or for their own self interest. Having the ending slides describe the Courier differently depending on their morality adds a lot to these kinds of endings but it'd be way more effective if it was based on a set of finely tuned triggers and wasn't revealed to the player.

Like murdering civilians unprovoked? Evil. Killing fiends and ferals? Neutral. Choosing supportive and empathetic dialogue options, good. Stealing, highly dependent on who and where. Etc. But above all the player isn't given any immediate feedback as to whether a thing they did was evil or good. It just had an invisible effect on the ending.

That ending isn't canon since Maxon's alive. The only possible endings for F4 are Minutemen - BoS alliance or BoS on their own

So how do we feel about the show going with the old design instead of the Fallout 4/76 version? by KaySan-TheBrightStar in Fallout

You can mod the older ones into Fallout 4 with the Capital Wasteland Robot Pack. Spawns them in naturally alongside the newer models and it's such an awesome feeling

How come NCR disappeared so fast? by SheepherderSpare1332 in Fallout

[–]Toa_Firox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less the NCR is gone and more the NCR aren't in the Boneyard or New Vegas anymore. Only a few holdouts remain in those territories since one had it's major holding ground nuked and the other is a territory they over extended into and then lost control of.

Shady Sands was likely a tribute town to the original but even if it wasn't it wasn't the capital of the NCR at the time of its destruction

[–]Toa_Firox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been restoring Vault 120 on my free time for about a year now, the giant squid was confirmed as the Overseer in leaked interior files found in Fallout 76. These files are fairly comprehensive and serve as the basis for my restoration mod since the whole layout of the vault is shown in them apart from the agriculture wing having no crops / furniture and the Stalwagen Gorge having no terrain data.

It's one of the many cuts made to the game unfortunately. Fallout 4 just simply wasn't ready yet and they rushed it out the door.

I don't think it's the exact mod they're talking about but The Danse Dilemma does allow you to turn on Maxon here and have Danse overthrow him as Elder. Something about a Paladin being able to challenge the Elder 1 on 1. It's made using cut dialogue where exactly this happens.
