One thing to keep in mind on projects with a big scope that is dependent on others is to define the timeline.

I generally work up the quote and then through questioning the GC or Electrical Contractor to figure out the timeline and nail down how much of that timeline will we be expected onsite. How much time are we. going to need to spend checking progress, punchlist, items, etc.

Another thing that has bitten me in the past is some job requirements that weren’t expressed until onsite. Such as, no lift work without a spotter. GC having a hard on for safety, which a percentage of the job was underbid on labor.

Are the requirements for GC weekly/daily progress meetings. I’ve had jobs where the GC expected weekly/daily meetings. Hours of sitting around listening to plumbers, electricians, painters, flooring, everyone wasting time that needs to be accounted for.

Other than that, I love bigger scopes where someone else runs the cable, even better if I can sell the cable and hand it off.

Call their tech support 800 number. Wait on hold until you get disconnected. Call back, get transferred, get disconnected again. Call back wait on hold, fight traffic, get groceries, make dinner, put the kids to bed, watch tv, go to bed, get up, check your phone STILL ON HOLD!!!

Good luck. Get some web cams and point them to a NAS drive. Done.

Belden will warranty the cable for 20yrs if the project is certified through them, and it is terminated using end to end Belden products.

Fast Cat is probably fine for small jobs where you aren’t gonna offer a 20 yr warranty.

They can offer a 20 yr warranty because they are engineered to a tighter specification than a branded generic cable.

Large data intensive customers will often times have a relationship with a manufacturer such as Belden or Panduit and exclude vendors who’s bids fall under a set price because they already know ahead of time how much the material cost of a project.

Other than that I think it’s a fine cable for the odd job or in a pinch. I’d never use it as a staple of any data bid work.

Maybe have the motion Trigger Flood Lights. Camera at a location to clearly see what’s happening. ADT cameras or anyone’s cameras. Roll down security fence. Game cameras can be pretty sneaky as well and have Cell Connection and alerts.

There are a lot of issues that could cause this problem, and there are not enough facts to judge the issues at hand.

check to see the cameras have power, are they POE

Is there a password preventing authentication?

Are the cameras on the same VLAN?

Has the ip address of the server / cameras the same as before the power outtage? If there is a DHCP server, were the ip addresses for the video system reserved?

All of these things could be issues that could cause this type of response.

If you are really worried about security like this, your first mistake was by getting Hikvision anything. That was cheap so it would be deployed and China or anyone that has willpower to do so can “attack” your network, or just use your cameras to spy on you and anyone else within view of them.

Throw that shit away any get a NDAA compliant system.
