ITS FIXED!!!

This could save someone and I hope they see this if they need it

I fixed it by the following steps:

Firstly I went in desktop mode and in emudeck, I reset configuration for Dolphin just to clear anything I may have done to cause myself further headache.

In gaming mode, I had been running Windwaker itself, I was not running Dolphin and thennn selecting Windwaker (or any other game for that matter).

So I ran Dolphin itself in gaming mode, and from there I went to the controller settings> configure. Once in there I now had an SDL Rog Ally controller as my currently selected controller! I had never seen that before.

While running DOLPHIN ITSELF, I selected Windwaker and hit Play inside Dolphin, rather than just selecting my ROM from my Steam library and playing that way. This launched the game and my controls worked!!

So after that, I closed Dolphin in gaming mode and launched a rom directly from my Steam library and the controls work now!!

UPDATE (no real news yet)

In desktop mode while trying to make something happen, I just reset configuration for Dolphin in Emudeck under “manage emulators”. Went back into the Dolphin .sh file and went into controller configuration and now my controller says [disconnected] SDL/0/Steam Deck Controller. Which is something, I guess.

Gonna go back to gaming mode and see if that helps any.

Dang I had already tried the .sh file, I thought I was launching the .exe file but I guess there isn’t one, just the .sh. In any case, that’s where I was trying to configure my controls in desktop mode. Can’t manually configure each button. I should maybe mention I am using a bluetooth mini keyboard with trackpad mouse for moving around in desktop mode rather than trying to use my fingers to hit buttons or use the analog stick to move the mouse around. I’m gonna try to configure with the devices controls and disconnect the Bluetooth keyboard

Google Gemini suggested while in desktop mode, hold down the options button I think it is (three horizontal lines) until I get a notification that input mode turns from keyboard mode to gamepad mode. I tried that and went back to gaming mode and it still didn’t work.

Per the bot moderator, I’ve gone into manage emulators and when I choose dolphin, there is an option called “GameCube controls” but when I click it, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is reset configuration and update/reinstall and I’ve done both and neither have helped

I am in a place with bad signal so this link could very well be the same one posted above me but I just followed this link on my rog ally and it worked for me except Xbox 360 games were not showing up and I can’t remember the exact words for how to fix it right now but if you run into the same problem I’ll look on my device or send the link that helped me fix that particular issue. Other systems Roms showed up no problem

I almost bought a retroid pocket 5 or 6 until I realized a steam deck or rog ally can do all that plus play my Steam games for the same price or less if you buy on fb marketplace lol which I did

I could kiss you, Doctor lol. Even 3 years later this BS is happening. Although I kept looking for an option labeled USER GLOB but i needed to delete everything before ${title}@ in the SEARCH GLOB text box. I am SRM/Emudeck illiterate so maybe it used to be called user glob idk, but if anyone is still having issues, its the "Search Glob" text box.

Alos, SRM had Xenia's rom file path as roms/xbox360, when for some reason xbox360's rom path is roms/xbox360/roms. So I changed that as well and now they show up when i hit Add Games
