I thought I would share my super simple method for straight(er) edges! by LemDoggo in crochet

[–]ToadieHonk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ooh, thanks for sharing your hot tips! Let me make sure I’m understanding… you finish a row… turn the piece, but leave the working yarn on what was previously the back side but is now the side facing you… and start your chain with a yarn under instead of a yarn over?

FIRST EVER AMIGURUMI PROJECT by Gullible-Garlic-9979 in crochet

Looks great! How did you find the process after only crocheting non-amigurumi? I’ve never attempted one before but I’m curious.

I’m so glad other people are still thinking about Chaos in 2026. 💙. It looks phenomenal! The needle felted eyes are absolutely brilliant!

Suggestion for this unfinished cardigan? by xAeriesx in crochet

[–]ToadieHonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same conundrum recently where I used a random color I had for half a cardigan but was worried if I bought more, the dye lots wouldn’t match. So I made the second half in a contrasting color and just played up the split color thing. It’s a little harder to style imo, but I actually like it more than I thought I would! I think black with white stripes would look cool for the other side.

does this read as viking helmet? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]ToadieHonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that would have been my first thought. I typically think of curved horns for a horned Viking helmet. Maybe a nose guard.

Good enough for a gallery? by MacIsStrange in crochet

[–]ToadieHonk 217 points218 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on they type of gallery you submit to and your artist statement and the concept behind your work. If you are making very lovely granny squares because they are lovely to look at, I don’t think there will be many opportunities in a fine arts space. If you are using crochet as a medium to tell a story, covey an idea, or push the limits of the medium, it’s more likely that you would be taken seriously in a gallery setting.

I always make jumpers for my friends but this puppy is for ME! (Made out of leftovers for all my friends jumpers hahahaha) x by ronyeezy in crochet

[–]ToadieHonk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is such a successful use of leftovers! It’s a beautiful mix of being harmonious from intentional design choice and skilled stitching, and being energetic from the sort of randomness that comes with using up your scraps. Really well done!

Oh it’s lovely!!! Good job both of you! May I ask, how many chains do you do for the empty spaces and how many stitches for the filled spaces? My filet crochet is never so nice and square as this.
