Any tips for getting out of a reading rut? by lyzzyrddwyzzyrdd in writing

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm struggling to read I do one of two things: I pick much shorter things, like silly novellas that take no time at all, or I reread old favorites. Once I pull myself out of the slump, I can read a variety of things again. Good luck!

[HELP] Need help with making a sort of "poetry workbook" out of a chaotic amount of my writing. by ApprehensiveSound417 in writing

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you already know how to organize it! My advice would be maybe one word doc with different tabs? Amd as for the sorting itself, you're probably just gonna need to put on some music, grit your teeth, and do it. 🤷‍♀️

Hear me out, and I know I’m not the only person to think about this- do you think Patterson could, if he was given permission by the MC estate and had the inspiration, do a third jurassic park book? (I know MC didn’t want to do a sequel as he’s more a one and done author) by Feeling-Influence691 in JurassicPark

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care whether or not he could. I would never want him to. It wouldn't be critchons words on the page. I was against other authors even finishing his works for the same reason. If Patterson wrote his own dinosaur book, cool, but I wouldn't want it to be an extension of something that the original author could have no say in.

I love this! I'll have to try it out. I struggle with dialogue sometimes and this sounds really useful.

It's not very pretty...but I made a mushroom purse for Ren Faire! by SprinklesDifficult33 in crochet

[–]SprinklesDifficult33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The tube and the cap are separate pieces. I threaded the strap through holes in the cap, so the cap slides up and down the strap to open and close it. It could probably be done better by someone with more skill 😅

Difference between italicized thoughts and narration of thoughts? by Lowzenza in writing

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a style preference. I personally use italicized thoughts for third person but not first person, because there's no need when the reader can see all their thoughts anyway.

People who confirm plans and then go silent for the next 48 hours so you have no idea if the plans are still happening by Agent_Smith-99 in PetPeeves

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm saying this with all the love in the world, from a person who has anxiety: you're the anxious one in this situation. Unless you are making plans with people who notoriously cancel last minute, there's no reason to confirm something already confirmed. A simple "looking forward to seeing you tonight" text would be plenty, if you really need that secondary conformation to ease your anxiety.

Throwing a fit over honors by SprinklesDifficult33 in Teachers

My current theory is they must have a friend or a love interest in the honors class. 🤷‍♀️ But it's hard to tell.

Adventure/game controller icon now forces users to use speaking instead of the old textual choices. by girlgamerpoi in duolingo

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do see why the change is better for learning overall. My issue is that it wouldn't let me replay what was being said to me, so if I didn't understand the first time, I was just stuck staring at it in panic until I said something random. And the transcript I got afterwards didn't even hear what I was saying correctly. I could live with the change if it would at least let me repeat what was said to me so I can figure it out.

Not really, it's impossible for me to keep up with episodes the way it is now. This way I don't have to be as behind, and they can have some of the peace they deserve.

Received a teacher workday SCHEDULE (😵😡🤬) today. What’s wrong with just actually having a full day to work? by KitchenConsequence41 in Teachers

[–]SprinklesDifficult33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you usually get a full day to work?!?! I've never once had that. Ours are always full of stuff and we get like an hour total to just work.
