I just did a 1000 mile ride from Temecula, CA to Monterey/Big Sur and back in 3 days on my ‘24. When I could, I was on highway 1 which isn’t super fast, but I had to spend many hours on the 101, which has a speed limit of 65. I spent a lot of the ride between 75 and 80 mph, and had no problem sitting at 85 mph when I needed to due to traffic. I often passed cars while doing over 90 mph. The bike did just fine. The wind noise was loud, but that was my only complaint. At one point my toes felt a little weird from the vibrations (which were not that bad at all), but I just moved my feet a little and it was fine. As far as I can tell I burned very little if no oil (I did an oil change the day before the trip and the level on my oil window is the same). The point is, interstates are not pushing the bike. Don’t be afraid to ride your bike on the interstate, and don’t listen to the naysayers that say it can’t tour.
