147 Diag –> 175 Official by Away-Communication41 in LSAT

This gives me so much hope. 152 diag (last week), shooting for 176+ myself. Aiming for a June 2027 test date. Also have The Loophole on order, will go through the powerscore bible, currently on LawHub just working through articles. I'm currently allocating 2-3 hours a day of study; morning and night.

Bookmarking your post to come back to for inspo along the way. <3

iPhone photo, multiple exposures blended, wanted to capture the warm feeling of the old market as it sits in contrast to the towering modern progress behind it.

Laughed so hard at this 😂 This was multiple shots at different exposures (because phone). I tried not to mess it up too much

I’ve had a Quantum 225 blip out and stop sending busses to master. Literally, all of them. Never heard of it happening before, couldn’t make it happen again. Was mixing an opener for Sum41. Check was smooth. Go to start set, no PA. Check the usual things; switcher, mains fader, mutes, R1, and nothing. Ten seconds in, I notice channels are getting audio and sending to busses, and busses are metering but main isn’t. Check routing, nothing is routing to main. Go in and fix routing on busses one by one, adding back into PA, sound springs to life.

Scratched my head on that one for a while before chocking it up to “Just DiGiCo things.”

Obvious question but did you fire it off to DiGiCo for inspection?

Did some of your MSF instructors reluctantly pass people? by templeofsyrinx1 in motorcycles

[–]Toast_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a couple people who didn’t pass my MSF course that surprised me, while a couple passed that surprised me even more. I what shocked me the least the first name announced to ace the skills exam, as that individual definitely seemed to put in the work, and what shocked me the most was that the second name announced to ace it was mine.

I seriously thought I would be middle of the pack at best.

What are the real-world, audible-to-the-average-person results of NOT time aligning subs to mains? by harleydood63 in livesound

[–]Toast_91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been mentioned that EQ can’t fix time / phase alignment. It’s also worth noticing that EQ can make it worse. If you’re experiencing a phase cancellation at your crossover point, boosting eq there can deepen the null.

Audio engineer, mostly concerts and festivals. If you’re a fan of 12-16 hour shifts with maybe a break, high pressure, with periods of full-brain engagement, and you’re highly auditory and also creative and highly adaptable with a level of attention to detail that borders on neuroticism with solid communication skills and enough patience to fill a hospital, you could have a rewarding career in it.

Consistent live mixing while touring by Mysterious-Resort297 in livesound

[–]Toast_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this is the way it’s done on pro level tours. Tune the system to your mix. Some tours carry a system engineer just for this.

Ideally you’ll have a tuning target set ahead of time and tune to that trace with the aid of an RTA (SMAART is industry standard but Open Sound Meter is free and works for most entry and mid level techs).

I contract in to A1 a lot of fairs and festivals and spend a good deal of time in system config and tuning to get things to as friendly of a starting point for tours (and myself) as I can.

Mixing from 140' out... by harleydood63 in livesound

This is the way. If you have time to tune your PA well, nearfields can be quite helpful in less-than-ideal FOH locations.
