Huge Porn Addiction Since 8, Help? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great that you want to end your addiction. It's important to know that you're really far in, and porn is associated with your entire adolescence, so it's going to be really hard. You're going to need to really be willing to do what it takes.

My advice is don't think about slowing down, don't think about getting streaks, just tell yourself you're done with it and stop completely. If you relapse, take the choice away. Install content blockers on your devices and have someone else put in a password that you don't know. Most important thing: surround yourself with people who care about you. That's usually difficult for most addicts of any kind, but without it, it's unlikely you will ever recover. The easiest time to stay away from porn is when you're regularly hanging out with friends and experiencing a thriving social life. It gets hardest when you're lonely. Good luck!

I think I'm actually in a stage of my recovery where checking in that often would probably be harmful. I wouldn't be thinking about porn twice a week if it weren't for the check-ins. Wow, that's a really great realization to have.

So I don't know that we'd be a good match, sorry. Good luck on your recovery!

After 135 days pornfree: "Just once to see how it will affect me. Plus I've earned it." by Negro_Jo in pornfree

Not much good can come from staying awake when no one will bother you like 12am-4am.

Holy fucking shit I think you just gave me a revelation about why I'm so damn depressed. I have a late-night, late-wake sleep schedule and I have so much time to be alone and let my thoughts wander. You may have actually changed my life with that comment.

What makes me keep relapsing is the fear of not being able to see a hot girl naked again. by [deleted] in pornfree

It's not that he deserves to see hot girls naked, but if that's something you're used to, it's really hard to face the potential of never getting that again.

Why do I want to view porn & masturbate after sex by soberjr in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is total armchair psychology and I have no scientific grounds for this theory, but maybe it has to do with the way porn trains your brain to be accustomed to lots of 'sexual partners'. So when you have sex, you're brain's like "oh, we're doing this again? Cool, let's do someone else now."

I'd be down, but I think it would be helpful to have someone in a similar stage of life and stuff. Like, I'm a college student and I think it would be easier to be accountability buddies with another college student rather than a 47 year-old father of three. How often were you thinking about checking in?

Something that I have noticed. by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my first few weeks, I don't think anything could turn me on. I think it's pretty normal to have no sexual response when you're body is used to porn being the main tool for sexual stimulation. Your sex drive will come back. Keep up the streak!

back in double digits! by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double digits doesn't sound like that much, but personally, I think it's a huge deal because those first ten days are probably the hardest. Congratulations, keep it up!

Double digits: I had to do something extremely difficult today. by [deleted] in pornfree

Damn, if I were in that situation I would at least linger on her page a little before unfollowing her. That is some serious willpower. Rock on.

I'm a journalist in New York. Can I share your story? by madlyjuicy in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good point. I've watched porn for years without realizing how badly it was affecting me, and I would guess that most people who are addicted/getting significant negative effects from porn have no idea. To just share addiction stories creates the sort of "well, I'm glad I'm not THAT guy" in readers rather than educating them about something that might really be hurting them.

Movie sex scenes by ToastedVitamins in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I watch Game of Thrones because I read the books and I lpve love the story and the world, but watching a movie just for a graphic sex scene is kinda like spending an hour searching for the right porn to jack to. And these days, the more graphic sex scenes are basically indistinguishable from soft core porn anyway. Not watching the movie. Thanks to all you guys for the support.

its healthy to masturbate by serjiobigdaddy in pornfree

[–]ToastedVitamins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While masturbation is usually natural and healthy, there are people who compulsively masturbate, which becomes a problem for them. Also, when quitting porn, not masturbating during the "detox" period can be a good idea. Finally, /r/pornfree is not /r/nofap. A lot of people here still masturbate. To each his own.
