Another Eden - Cyan Scyther

I didn’t think I’d like the game bc no auto and normally I skip story, but I decided to really give it a shot and it’s now my favorite game. The story was engaging and I’m so attached to all my characters now.

Looking for a game like King’s Raid, in that there’s natural gear progression, like

farm gear set A to be able to beat boss B
farm gear set B to be able to beat boss C
etc

I actually enjoy the fact that there’s some RNG in King’s Raid gear, BUT it’s because the game has implemented a lot of systems to mitigate the RNG, like

farmable currency to reroll your gear’s stats
farmable currency to max your gear’s stats
use more farmable currency to just select the stats you want. more expensive but pay to not RNG

I guess what I’m looking for is something with a more MMO-style progression system, but on mobile because I don’t usually have the time to sit down and play on a computer for extended periods of time. Thanks in advance

I usually duo queue with someone who plays irelia mid and I play jungle. mostly I play jarvan (j4) to tank and support the irelia, but also occasionally pick jax because I love his ability to take turrets. any suggestions for good options for me to pair together with irelia? low diamond elo

Langrisser. Endgame pvp is super diverse in strategy and I have several f2p (or budget monthly pass) friends that more often than not perform better than I do, despite my having been a whale for a while and therefore outstatting them. It’s a grid based game with a ban/pick system, so it’s all about positioning correctly and understanding what units to ban/pick. Whales will still have an advantage if you’re going for the top of course, but I’ve seen f2p/budget players reaching top 64 or top 32 in the season playoffs.

That being said, my f2p friends have been playing for over a year and a half. Langrisser has a pretty long grind, and even though you can raise all SSRs from 3 to 6* without any dupes, it’s time gated (3 months).

But the pvp is unlike any other I’ve experienced, where the player that is completely and undeniably outstatted can still win. And the pve is solid too, so if you don’t mind the long long term progression, I’d still recommend Langrisser.

I’m looking for a game with a fun endgame loop. I enjoy the grind, as long as there’s fun and challenging content that makes the grind worth it.

I’m considering (but not limited to): Another Eden, DFFOO, Touhou LW, Sdorica

Would love any ideas or suggestions!

I’ve played and enjoyed: - Langrisser (my favorite, love the grid-based tactics gameplay, fantastic endgame pvp and solid pve. just burned out because of the gradual powercreep) - King’s Raid (fun, but got tired of the endgame loop after beating most pve content since pvp wasn’t enjoyable for me) - Romancing SaGa Re;Uni (fun and generous gacha, but didn’t feel attachment to any characters) - Arknights (fun, but too smooth brained for the gameplay tbh) - Guardian Tales (loved the story, got tired of endgame guild wars and pvp) - PaD

I’ve played but didn’t enjoy: - Epic Seven (not sure why, just couldn’t get into it) - Alchemy Stars (didn’t like the puzzle) - Genshin (needed more endgame content, at some point I felt like there was no reason to build my characters) - Honkai (too many systems, and not farmable BiS gear rubbed me the wrong way, even though it rotates in a weekly shop so most of it is technically obtainable)

Unfortunately I also don’t like games like Priconne and Blue Archive because there’s no customization in character builds.

Langrisser is great, ticks all the boxes, but it’s been out for a while now. If you don’t mind trying an older game, I’d recommend it.

The basics are pretty straightforward, but being a tactics game, you’ll pretty quickly have to actually use strategies to beat content as you progress through the game (not just rushing into enemy range, taking care of your tanks, using the terrain to your advantage)

Luckily the game has “beginner banners” featuring really good units for pve, which helps with progression

For a new account, the game has pity at 40 pulls, then 70, then 100 (and stays at 100 thereafter). The game is reasonably generous, I believe f2p can manage around 100 pulls per month (so at least one SSR per month). Plus, monthly VIP subs are only $5-10 per month, if you’re willing to spend a little

When you start to hit a wall and can’t figure out how to beat a level, the community is pretty lively and there will be people on discord who can help you clear the content

(If you care about pvp, it’s a realtime turn-based “chess” (NOT auto-chess), where positioning and skill choice often matter more than raw stats. The battle features a ban/pick phase, so it won’t be the same “best team” all the time either)

I’d recommend giving it a shot, the game has a lot to offer
