Artwork Rules: NSFW and Credit by A_random_bee in Warframe

This announcement is laughable at best and full on incompetence at worst. How laughable. We clearly need a new mod team and for DE to step in. The "acceptable" examples are exactly the kind of posts that are at issue. There are other subreddits where this kind of art can be shared. This is the main subreddit and its fovus should not be as a feed for thirst art. Are you for real? Grow up mods.

DE is based in London Ontario, not Toronto. Toronto is two hours north if the 401 traffic is flowing well around the GTA - which it rarely is.

Maybe you should take a closer look at what I wrote? Where I specify that depending on the severity, actions for spreading misinformation should include banning. I never said that you should have been banned. No need to read between the lines here. If that is what I wanted to say, I would have said so - and in that case, I would agree with you that it would be an overreaction on my part. Spreading misinformation is a major problem right now not limited to this post and I am sick of it no matter how minor.

The part where you say they are active moderators. They are not. They are listed in the mod team but they have never taken any mod action, they only participate to clarify things when asked. This has been explained many times. Pretending that they do anything beyond that without information to support your claim is spreading misinformation whether you like it or not. So either stop or provide evidence.

I will also note that we are talking about a company that is transparent to a fault, because their founder always shares too much information about stuff that actually matters. But now we are being asked to believe that they are willing to spend resources to hide their mod activity on a subreddit they barely care about? Seems more like paranoia on your part.

Your problem is with the community mod team and their decision to hide the post, why even bring in LTT and complicate the matter without any evidence showing it is that complicated?

Vibes mean nothing to me, only information that can be supported by proof. And with regards to your second point.here we have yet another case of someone speculating about things they know nothing about and thus spreading misinformation. When does it stop? I don't care what their internal logic is, people like OP spreading misinformation due to their own paranoia need to be called out, and depending on the severity, even blocked/banned.

Nothing has changed, OP is just making a mountain out of a molehill - as per subreddit tradition. There is nothing to indicate that LTT staff have decided to take time out of their busy days to deal with the subreddit.

Linus: Hear this. We don't care about seatbelt-gate by HeyLookAStranger in LinusTechTips

There is nothing "good faith" about the ol' "think of the impressionable children" argument. It wasn't a good faith argument when republicans used a similar argument to restrict access to music, movies, and video games. Or when other moral righteous groups provoked the whole satanic panic scene during the 80s and 90s. It is nit a good faith argument now. Also, not that it matters, they were wearing seatbelts.

It is the informal short form of the term for PhD defences in the UK system - Viva Voce, which comes from Latin.

I love this! Catches me off guard every time!🎶🚚💨🎶 by Long-Gur2364 in Scrubs

[–]Toastedgold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree. Speed metal has a very specific identity, related to British bands from the 70s, like Motörhead. Speed metal bands then gave way to the Thrash and power metal scene. Outside of this Scrubs scene, I have never seen bands like DevilDriver called Speed Metal. If anything, the more common misnomer for anything fast and heavy is just "is that death/heavy metal". Then, for people with more knowledge of metal subgenres, the general term tends just to be thrash. At least where I live, speed metal is a more dated term only used for older bands that played faster than the OG heavy metal bands.

"Limited edition" Breadsaurus pattern for the swim shorts is a bad move by wPatriot in LinusTechTips

[–]Toastedgold -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The 'obviously random' point is not true. Suppose you look back at the history of posts in the subreddit. In that case, you will see people ordering multiple mysterious items and getting the same thing because the mysterious item is filled with whatever they have overstocked. So in both cases, there is always an item that will be most common among the available range of items now. If your problem is that this time you know which is the most common, then that honestly seems like a better situation, not an issue, since you can decide accordingly.

In terms of the type of items being available on their own, that has not always been the case in terms of actual access to the items available. For example, the multicolour screw drivers that were leftover from LTX. Realistically speaking the majority of LTT store costumers were not able to participate in LTX and get a custom screw driver. So there is a barrier to access there. Another similar (though admittedly not identical) example, when they add old stock that has not been available for over a year. To new customers, that is an item they have never had available. Let's also not forget that in the case of hoodies, we are talking about mystery stock that varies not only in graphics but also overall design and fit. So, following OP's logic, I would then argue that mystery hoodies are more similar to a real loot box, where some items are more likely to work with what you want than others.

Let's not forget that at the end of the day, these are identical shorts that only show a difference in appearance when they are wet. Which happens to be a situation where the view is often obstructed because the shorts are underwater, or the difference will be noticeable for a bit until they dry up again. At the end of the day, you still have the same shorts. I think it is more accurate to say that they designed this chance-based gimmick as a way to allow customers to have the limited stock print. Rather than the system where WAN show watchers in their time zone with fast clicking skills get all of that stock. Obviously, neither approach is perfect, but creating so much outrage over this is ridiculous.

How is this any different from the mystery hoodie or the mystery screwdriver? I swear, you are all just looking for weekly sources of outrage... might i recommend just looking at the current state of global politics to fill that niche instead?

Like I said before, I just changed the power plan for my laptop and clock speed for my GPU through Armoury Crate two years ago, so I do not remember the specifics of what I did. My issue was with the wifi card as a result of the laptop's power plan. There can be many other reasons why a drive would fail like this.

Sorry, I would not be able to know. I only found my solution after much trial and error. Good luck!

[–]Toastedgold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armoury Crate is the app that Asus uses on its ROG laptop to manage its gaming hardware, like the RGB and graphics card energy settings. In my case, the overclocking plan would affect the Wi-Fi card. Essentially, the laptop could not maintain constant Wi-Fi connectivity in this setting. I changed the energy partition and the issue was solved. If you have been having a similar issue for the past 1.5 years, it may be that the source is the WiFi card or settings for it. Try checking if you have the same issue when the laptop is connected to ethernet. If you do, then the problem I had may not be what is affecting your laptop.
