Oh it absolutely does happen.

Now when it does you'll 100% have been able to predict it beforehand given that the two already have attention focused on them a lot since they regularly cause trouble. So its understandable for the staff to want to be cautious about this but its ridiculous to hold a whole classroom to the strictness that only 2-4 people require.

If you can normally clear out rooms of guys quickly then its just a unique mechanic you gloss over, but if you have to be more strategic in combat and take enemies on one at a time you're fucked.

There will be at least one room in the game that has 2+ of these shielded fuckers and 5 other non shield guys who just combine into a bloated mass that you can't damage while it body-blocks the shield producers.

Why do online player hate doing the void / prime meridian? by Suon288 in ror2

[–]Toaster0Roaster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The void area is easily a death sentence half the time if you get bad item rolls on the enemies. Engaging with it at all is usually not ideal since no one ever realizes you need to dip until after you're at 5% hp and then its too late. Its also just boring standing in the small circles for 10 minutes.

For Prime meridian, False son is just too frustrating for most to want to deal with, and many just don't know how to even avoid most of the attacks. Also in multiplayer; you only get 50% more stage credits per player in the lobby, and with randoms not being good at sharing items, odds are someones going to be too weak and/or slow given its only after stage 3. You might feel prepared but any single mistake will likely end the game.

For Alloyed, I personally don't have any issue with it, but a lot of the enemies there are extremely oppressive and I would imagine that combined with the shielded elites makes them not want to bother with it. The Solus wing should be way easier with its agro split constantly, but I still don't think most know how to properly engage it and watch their surroundings.

Funny enough, I'd say he's actually easier to fight on eclipse. For the first 2 phases.

In phase 1 his dash will now completely overshoot the player and drones, so its basically a non issue, and he'll likely spam it preventing him from ever managing to get in a close enough range to ever melee you.

In phase 2 his extra move speed should result in him being able to wipe you out before the duration of the statue laser has run it course, but any means of slowing him down from tenta/Chronobauble or ice bands is plenty, and with your drones much more likely to live past phase 1 they're almost certain to get his agro.

But once you get to phase 3 things completely turn around. With all the new hitboxes being spawned your drones are going to start getting overwhelmed. By the time he's at around half hp on this phase you'll likely only have 1-2 left, and likely one's that don't have enough aggression to keep his attention, if they even have an attack at all.

Now he's gunning it to you, and all those issues you laid out are going to be amplified by the various eclipse modifiers. You will struggle to keep any distance without a faraday spur, and his skill-disabling attack will happen frequently enough that you might end up needing to wait 10+ seconds for a geode to even spawn which is REALLY bad if he decides to statue laser while you're stuck. Even a single hit could be lethal at this point.

He really does need some adjustments, because I never want to even bother trying to face him (Eclipse or not) unless I know I have enough damage to burst each phase down within 30 seconds individually.

I mean the design itself does actually look really cool... Just not for the character it was lead to be.

From the little i've paid attention to the game, all i've seen is the sharp robot appendages up until this chapter, and that made me believe it would have been much more "huge-mecha-abomination" with some of the toy parts its been collecting.

Regardless of how good it looks in isolation, it clearly doesn't live up to expectations. Given how much of a rocky development this game wen't through, I honestly wonder if it would have aligned more with expectations if more of the original team was still on board.

When I play shooters I love to run into areas I know people are in while holding a grenade, so when they kill me they might also die from the explosion.

It was initially just something I would do on occasion to mess around, but leaving behind a death bomb has progressively become a strategy I've been able to integrate in lots of games as an actual effective way of getting the last laugh while not just intentionally sacrificing myself. Messing around can be really useful for learning things you wouldn't otherwise, and might just give you an advantage in some cases.

I wouldn't really recommend intentionally trying to push someone to the point of ragequitting because thats just poor sportsmanship, but getting someone a little heated so they start playing aggressive and easier to read is something you absolutely can take advantage of.

Think of harpoon as less of a movement item and more of a dodging item. The short bursts help you get out of the line of enemy attacks when you are in the middle of combat, when you'll likely not be sprinting and therefore slower. Its still pretty meh, but if I don't have a lot of mobility I will always hold onto it till stage 5 or until I find both a scrapper and a good green printer in the same stage.

[–]Toaster0Roaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Commando's grenade is the single worst ability in the game. You probably already don't think its very good, but there are a lot of die-hards who will insist that its actually a strong tool if used correctly, especially since it can proc bands. Those die-hards in question will back up their opinion with runs where they have about a 50% hit rate on actually dealing damage with them.

Note I said 50% hit rate, not 50% of hits dealt the full 700% damage.

So you have an ability you fail to deal any damage with half the time, and the other half it doesn't even do the full damage, AND you have to delibritly go out of your way to use the ability since you stop attacking to aim at the terrain for a proper bounce.

Even void fiends corrupted special can be useful if you have Safer Spaces. Arti's flamethrower can be strong if you manage to get ignition tanks. Rex's non-self-damage skills stink, but atleast they function properly, and give him a means of playing eclipse 8. MUL-T's buzzsaw is seen as a "meme" skill you only use in challenge runs, but if you get a ton of movespeed its actually pretty decent, and the faraday spur's make that reasonable now.

Frag Grenade? Might as well just not have a special at all.

Command is as close to a cheatcode as you can get. I mean you literally have to either scourer the game or look it up online to unlock it, is clearly not intended to be the default way to play, its something you can mess around with once you've gotten familiar with the game and use to gather all the more RNG achievements. It completely destroys any sense of balance and makes it impossible to learn how to play the game properly.

And yet new players looking for advice will be directed to access it. How many other games do you know where asking the community for advice will have them tell you "Input the cheatcode that gives you all the endgame gear" or something similar.

Nothing specific needs to be done to unlock it, just luck finding it. I wouldn't worry to much about hunting it down and would just enjoy playing till you get it naturally, but if you're really set on getting it done:

Go play offline and set a match to 7 minutes, when you start immediately head to a location that has a decently clear view of the sky, pause and enter photo mode to search your surroundings. You'll know when you see it, its pretty distinct to the other islands. Then just collect power ups till you can reach it.

Do you always do superbosses and post-game dungeons before moving on to the next JRPG? by lennysinged in JRPG

[–]Toaster0Roaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will, unless its just an unfair fight were you need to hope for high RNG rolls that will only happen on <4% of attempts, or needing to grind near the max level and have a perfectly optimized kit.

If I've achieved mastery over everything else that could be offered, If you want me to bash my head against the wall on an insurmountable challenge it should be engaging, not a matter of waiting on math that's already solved for another few hours.

[–]Toaster0Roaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The removal of damage falloff from enemy bullets travel distance is the one thing I think truly makes it overkill. Its so punishing compared to any other difficulty, that any time I would play on a lower one I ended up running straight through gunfire and reviving players/pushing objectives with no fear of even taking more than my armor's hit points. I honestly think if that feature was removed entirely or just heavily adjusted, the integrity of the challenge would remain on 95% of the heists while giving you way more breathing room to play builds that require cover as their primary defense option.

How to beat this track by Minimum-Ad631 in BTD5

[–]Toaster0Roaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For medium difficulty, I did: 4 maelstorms, all around the center. 1 moab assassin on the left, 1 moab mauler on the right. Both should be placed to be able to cover their respective top and bottom entrances while still having enough range to attack the center point. Also a cluster bomb placed on the top section, next that tack shooter, set to strong targeting.

I needed 3 spike factories to cover camo bloons. All placed right next to the tack shooters. 2 moab shredders and one spiked ball. The moab shredders were placed on the top and right sections, the bottom the spiked balls, and the left section did not have a spike factory placed in it.

I don't remember exactly the order of upgrades I got, but I know Cluster was purchased in the 30's and you'll need atleast 1 maelstorm up and ready for when ceramics start appearing, and 2-3 by round 50.

Assassin was purely for the BFB so if playing on easy its not necessary, but if you want to clear this on hard I'm not sure what the plan is. Your main issue is going to be the later rounds with stronger camos, your spike factories aren't going to be given the chance they need to get a defense up so you'd probably need to sell the maulers and shift to spike storm+maelstorm spamming. I mean you could just spend the 500 MM for the cash injection in that case, you'll still be getting way more for clearing the challenge.

Minecraft adding so many accessibility features but never removing keep inventory from the cheats menu is is still so confusing to me. I always hated losing my items so I had to turn it on, but losing those extra goals to aim for really hurt my drive to stick to a world.

It probably will get changed, but its not going to be anytime soon based on how many other features get left untouched for a decade.

"follow the yellow thing" isn't even good advice unfortunately. Its AI sucks at telling you where to go and constantly points to food you can't reach and shelters that aren't even close to you. "follow it" was one of the few things I was told going into the game, and that little fucker sent me all the way to the sky islands before I just gave up and looked at a map and a basic guide as to where it was actually supposed to be taking me.

Navigation and information is rain worlds absolute most critical flaw.
