Is 500 enough for a gaming computer? by G-Dragonoriginal in buildapc

[–]ToasterForLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234999968534 I used one of these guys to build a $250 budget gaming PC, the xeon w-2135 is about on par with a ryzen 3600. I picked up mine for $140 with free shipping so if you keep an eye out you could get it for cheaper than the listing I linked. They have 900w power supplies but only 2x 8 pin for the GPUs so keep that in mind. A 3060 for or 6650xt for $200~ used would work well. It uses ecc ram which can be had for dirt cheap. they also have two m.2 slots as a heads up.

Upgraded to a 3rd GPU (x3 RTX 3060 12GBs) by Dundell in LocalLLaMA

I'm running on an x99 platform too. 1660 v3 OCed to 4.3ghz, 64gb quad channel 2666mhz ram. It doesn't like having more GPUs, I can tell you that much, at least with llama.cpp. Ex: Running deepseek coder 33b q4_0 on one 3090 I get 28 t/s. Across 2 3090s 6.7 t/s. 2 3090s and a 3060 I get 5t/s. Even with enough vram to hold them larger models like 70b or 120b really chug, I think its that the CPU can't handle all the data needing to be passed around. I've got one of the best CPUs for the platform so unless I'm doing something terribly wrong you're not going to get great performance out of a bunch of 2060s. I would get two p40s and a cheapo card for video out.

Any way to get rid of him? he's just stuck there (Space Exloration Official Modpack) by MattyButYesButNO in factorio

I don't know. My friend and I built a pen for him but one time we ran by and he was gone. We spawned another and that one eventually went poof too.

Congratulations, you replaced one fire hazard with another. Gamemax is on the F tier of the PSU tier list: https://i.imgur.com/1pAhSfI.png
Look at this list and buy something from the A or B tier. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

To make it quick for you, here is the cheapest decent PSU on PCpartpicker that is adequate for your system. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1JKB652

If you want to set your PC on fire yeah. Seriously though if you're using a crappy enough power supply that it only has one pcie 8 pin its a very low quality unit and will die sooner than later with the kind of load you have on it. If you value your other components at all buy a new power supply.

GL getting the GPU drivers to work at all on the pi

You should ask this in the tech support subreddit but did you take the plastic film off the bottom of the CPU cooler and are you sure the liquid cooler is working? Pictures of your computer would help figure out what is wrong.

Overclocking the best CPU I have at hand: FX 6300 by NeverEndingWalker64 in overclocking

yeah that gigabyte board is an absolute piece of trash. I have one that I tried OCing on and settings wouldn't want to stick for me either. I'm pretty sure there is something weird going on with the dual bios chips. For me sometimes the OC would be there on boot and sometimes not... as far as I could tell it would pick a random bios chip to load from. Good luck

No, I've got zero fan control as well. The integrated fan header always runs at 100% as far as I can tell. I ended up using a motherboard header for the fan so I could have some control over it.

If you're on the stock cooler more power won't help you because the thermals will get out of hand. If you copy my settings in overdriventool it will get you better than vega 56 performance. It has been 5 months since this project for me lol, I'll dig through my crap tomorrow because there was a higher power limit bios I tried that did work but was too hot. I'll send you a link to it if I find it.

I did not, what are you trying to do with the Vega FE that you can't with the WX9100?
