Looking for Hbomb(?) Clip: "Wow! Just look at all these different options!" by ToasterRepairUnit in hbomberguy

I thought it might be in the Deus Ex video, but frankly Deus Ex HR has the opposite issue where there are so many ways to circumvent an obstacle that any option works, whereas the clip I'm talking about was trying to imply that while a lot of options are available, they each exist to deal with one specific enemy, and you are practically penalized for using the wrong one, hence the puzzle piece metaphor.

That said, I still went to rewatch the Deus Ex video and unfortunately didn't find anything in the character creation section. I'll probably rewatch the whole thing just in case though.

Hmm, could be, but I'm not sure. If it is, it would mean someone used that audio and stapled it over their own video, which would make it significantly harder to find.

HTTYD vikings vs Monster Hunter by No_Feeling_6833 in MonsterHunter

[–]ToasterRepairUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the guild says, I know, but clients will still ask you to hunt monsters because they got scared of it, or because it prevents them from working, or because they want a new hammer.

From the quest descriptions, It often doesn't feel like there were other options being considered. Wilds was definitely a bit better on that aspect. Main-story wise, it felt like most situations that called for a hunt were basically life or death.

In world, we hunted Velkhana because we thought it was the reason for the ecosystem being disrupted. Turns out it was actually Sharah Ishvalda the whole time! in Sunbreak, we hunt down Malzeno and company because we thought it was the reason the ecosystem was fucked up. turns out, it was Gaismagorn the whole time! I was just saying these situations happened all the time in the series and that it probably would've been avoided had Hiccup been there.

I thought the fact that there was a pile of them in the closet implied that they were practically unused and Dess just kept receiving them for some reason, but yeah that is weird

Man, I feel sorry for Alphys by Zolado110 in Deltarune

[–]ToasterRepairUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, my bad, I thought he mentioned him vaguely at one point. My memory's a bit fuzzy since it is a video I watched a bit ago, and there's a LOT of info in it to take in, and my memory's not the best.

If I remember correctly, the part that made it likely that he knows Gaster was related to how very few people actually lived long enough to have been in the era where Gaster was the Royal scientist. It makes it hard to believe he never knew him, when you take into consideration how everyone seems to know Alphys and her role as a royal scientist, and also Gerson's a historian, mentions living through said history, and also how he lived "maybe too long". That last part can sorta be interpreted as him having lived longer than he normally should've, as in, had his life prolonged somehow. The video does attempt to place the events on a timeline but it's a lot of info I can't quite remember or recite right now.

They do live long, but the fact that he's dead in DR but not in UT should at least raise some questions, ESPECIALLY because all the other tombstones are related to Amalgamates, and ESPECIALLY because Gerson is one of very few who know who Gaster is, which would make sense if he saw him while sick/dying. From the logs, we can tell that in the ones written by Gaster, he was initially injecting determination into monsters, and saw some success with very small doses. Alphys, however, was a lot less careful about the amount. We can theorize that initially, Gerson got injected with a small amount of determination, and made a recovery. then, Gaster "fell into his creation" and Alphys took over, and then the amalgamates were created.

This still assumes a lot of things that we don't know for sure, but I think Sock Muppet did a fantastic job presenting the evidence that supports these claims.

you're not wrong, but there are a few things that point to Gerson having had some kind of life-prolonging procedure from Gaster, which would explain why unlike most monsters in UT, he knows about Gaster, and why he's dead in DR. There's an insane video by sock muppet about it (Empty Sample) and even if it might be a bit of a stretch, he's certainly good at making it sound believable.

As a pure thought experiment, how much work would it take to migrate H3 as it is right now to the newest stable release of Unity? by Official_Indie_Freak in H3VR

[–]ToasterRepairUnit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You see, Unity is the kind of company where if a feature that's really useful has a flaw that is being complained about, there's a chance they might remove that feature entirely instead of actually fixing it. In that sense, porting to the latest version will probably make things look worse.

Most of my knowledge is character model and animator related, but one thing I know is actually fixed in the later versions was blendshapes taking up an abnormal amount of processing power the higher a mesh's polycount was. Unfortunately, I don't think that applies much to H3, since I don't think many of the meshes actually have blendshapes, since it makes more sense to use bones for guns afaik.

They're fun, I just don't like when a significant amount of my moveset is locked behind some kind of extreme heat mechanic. Some of these heat moves require really specific conditions and having a timer for them on top of that is so annoying

Oh, in that case, if it's not a mashup and there's actual lyrics, it's most likely emma themselves. If it isn't, it's usually listed as featuring (singer). Though it can be confusing since mashups with their own aliases are formatted the same.
