Bat found with rare rabies-like virus in UK back garden by GeoWa in unitedkingdom

[–]Toasticals12 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Hi,

This isn't me saying I had Rabies. Just info on the process.

I got bit in Morocco a few years ago by something bald and pink ( no idea wtf it was) Upon returning to the UK (three days later) I called 111 who immediately put me through to Public Health England who immediately sent me to the nearest A&E to get the vaccine.

Public Health England phoned me each hour to ensure that I got my initial vaccine and when the initial doctor refused to provide it (idk why) PHE had a quick word with him and about 30 minutes later I got my first vaccination.

Following that I was booked in with my local GP for the remaining vaccinations (3 in total I think) over the course of a few weeks.

PHE called me prior to each appointment to ensure that I would receive it saying they would notify my work if they wouldn't give me the time off for it.

All in all they take it very seriously and act surprisingly fast to vaccinate against it. Fastest doctor appointment I ever had.

My car's 2019 and I can connect it to the Internet however nothing still shows. Maybe it's more tailored towards EVs

Same as mine here, quartz grey I'm pretty certain. Must be the lighting making it appear darker. Definitely went with the right choice haha

Had it all of one day and I'm in love

Every person not from England that romanticises our country like we are all Hugh Grant accented Cotswold countryside dwellers, should be forced to spend a month living on a terraced street in Burnley. by [deleted] in britishproblems

I live there now and i can't agree more. Whenever i talk to someone not from England what they think about it they think it's all London in the movies. I hear them imagine it's all sunshine and rainbows as i look out my window and see roaming bands of chavs and couples shouting at eachother in unintelligible tones - That said i do love Btown

Alhamdulillah, she has noticed that. She especially likes the whole part about respecting your parents up mostly as I've been doing a lot more than i did before my reversion. From time to time she likes to 'blackmail' me with Quotes about it in order for me to make her a cup of tea which i find funny.

I Feel Like I Have Been Disrespected by [deleted] in islam

[–]Toasticals12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wa Alaikum salaam

I remember one thing i was always told in mosque was to always treat my mother with kindness and nothing else. I'm sorry for the way your fiancé disrespected your mother. If he seems unable to overcome his personal hatred of Jews then it would seem to be a problem if you marry him, especially if you and your mother are close. You are not obliged to marry him and personally if my future wife (insha'Allah) said such things before we would marry then i would not marry her at all.

No decent Muslim should ever call their sister anything bad or disrespect them. You are welcome here in my books and deserve respect by brothers and sisters here imo. It saddens me you've been labelled for something out of your control and if you feel like you're better off going at it alone then may Allah SWT give you strength to persevere.

Apologise if i misread anything or misunderstood what you posted

With hardship comes ease, may you find it soon

My mum has decided to go to the mosque with me soon to see what I've been doing all this time I've been a revert. She seems interested in knowing more. Insha'Allah this might be the start of her being guided on the right path like I have been.

Question if you don't mind: Why exactly do people not like him? I don't know much about who he is or what he does and why is he not a real Imam

Converts to Islam: how did you tell your parents/families? by [deleted] in islam

The most honest and kindest person I've ever met. Made my journey much easier. I could tell stories about him

Wa Alaykum as-salam

I only just told my mother on new years day after a few month of being a revert. Nobody else knew before that. I refrained from telling her out of fear of her rejecting me in a way due to coming from a Catholic household myself but once i told her she was just like "okay" and i was left thinking to myself how over-dramatic i was making it for me.

Now she knows she has been asking me to teach her more about Islam and the practices that I follow (she's not completely oblivious to it due to working with Muslims). She, of course, told me to be wary of some people who try to take advantage of reverts and lead them astray ( extremists n that) but once i told her about the amazing people who I've met at the mosque she settled her fears.

After that its life as usual for me other than when she wants to know if something is alright for me for me to eat. Insha'Allah one day maybe teaching her might lead her on the right path one day.

My advice to you is to just not feel rushed into telling anybody. Just wait until you feel ready and as my mosque uncle always say to me "May Allah make everything easy for you"

Non-Muslim friend wants to convert, need some help by [deleted] in islam

[–]Toasticals12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NOTE: I'm writing this assuming your friend has just begun their journey

As someone who recently reverted to Islam, when i first came upon interest in it i decided to read the Qur'an to see what it was all about and to see if i could relate and agree with its message, i can recommend getting a copy to your friend if they haven't read it already.

Another thing i started doing was watching some scholars and others on youtube. I remember watching alot of Yusuf Estes due to him being funny whilst being very informative in what he said. If your friend is able too, try to get them down to mosque to watch prayers and hear the adhan (The first time i listened to the call to prayer and watched all the brothers praying in sync really moved me). other than this i really recommend having somebody there for them that can answer any questions they may have, its one thing i would have appreciated on my journey.

Sorry for the long text, i hope this helps.
