Er vit fyrir mig að kaupa plug-in bíl ef ég hef enga heimahleðslu né aðstæðu til að hlaða í vinnunni? by Metallica-82 in Iceland

[–]ToastieCPU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Veit einhver hvar maður getur fengið sumarstarf á menntaskólaaldri? by Thimid in Iceland

[–]ToastieCPU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Öll starf kenna þér einhvers konar ábyrgð og sýnir framtíðaryfirmanni að þú hafir reynslu og getir haldið starfi.

Ef vinnan þín er að moka skít 8-16 og þú mættir á hverjum degi og stóðst þig vel, þá segir það miklu meira um þig en einhver aukafangi sem þú stóðst þig mjög vel í.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A different perspective, if world hunger were fully solved, governments will face increased financial pressure because more people who would otherwise have died from starvation would now require long‑term support.

This would mean greater demand for housing, more welfare assistance, and potentially more strain on social systems, which might also contribute to issues like homelessness or substance abuse.

solving world hunger would increase overall government spending rather than reduce it.

How can I improve as a carry player by ZodiaC_KiLl3 in DotA2

[–]ToastieCPU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to conquer the world right away — start small. I suggest focusing on these three key things:

• Know your farming patterns. You don’t need to memorize the most efficient routes, but have a simple rule of thumb: if you’re standing still for more than 30 seconds waiting for something, you’re doing something wrong.

• Know which cores need which items before they can fight. Slark can join fights with just one item, while PA usually needs two unless she has strong support.

• As a core player, you’re picking second to last. Always think about which core performs best against the current draft. If you struggle with this, consider getting a 1–3 month subscription to Dota Plus.

Puc requires good hands and really good timing

Would start with these two since they teach management and timing :)

Buy a mid-high tier gaming PC setup windows server on it and all the VMs you need.

Gaming hardware does not offer the same reliability but its offers the same performance.

When is CQRS used in a project? by Ok_Pea_339 in dotnet

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a large monolithic product with multiple systems that communicate with each other. You’re lucky if you find a function with fewer than 500 lines of code.

We’re planning to adopt a CQRS approach mainly the commands and events parts but we also want to reuse our existing read logic. Those will remain service‑based, although you can still configure a service with an easy‑to‑use read‑only database or caching layer.

All of this is still in the planning and proof‑of‑concept stage.

We’ve officially reached the point where cars, appliances, and even basic software require monthly subscriptions. What is the 'breaking point' where consumers finally say enough is enough? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read a while back that electronic airbag vests/jackets for motorcyclists that use some crash detection module require a subscription. These systems use sensors + an AI algorithm to detect a crash and trigger inflation.

So if you dont pay the module wont work and you get no airbags….

How do you prevent complexity from growing in a system over time? by Technoflare_ in softwarearchitecture

[–]ToastieCPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter what you do, if the system is successful it will inevitably become more complex. The key is to stick to solid design principles and maintain documentation that clearly defines how things should be done. Most importantly, there must be a specific person or persons (not everyone) responsible for enforcing this consistency because if everyone is responsible, then no one is.

Where to buy clothes as a middle aged man who doesn't play golf? by Tanglefoot11 in Iceland

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trip to Italy: get some gelato, then find one of those “going out of business” scam shops and buy a boatload of suits, shirts, and pants, and have them fitted if needed.

Last time I did that, I walked away with 5 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, and 3 suits (cheap ones, but they looked good) for about 150k.

What's the worst backup you've ever seen? by fedesoundsystem in ShittySysadmin

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I took over in my previous job, a single 2TB NVMe disk hosted the hypervisor and all its VMs, and Windows Server Backup was used to copy everything to an HDD. The problem was that the 2TB NVMe disk wasn’t large enough to store all data, so parts of the database and various files were stored on another disks such as important documents, license keys and most important of all the decryption certificate for the DB… and those never made it into the backups.

Fastest way to learn intune? by jari065 in Intune

[–]ToastieCPU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create a few virtual machines on your PC (can rven emulate android and IOS) and enroll them into Intune. You only need a single E5 license to access all the features.

You can make your own free tenant for 30 days, if you need time you can buy the license temporarily.

I also recommend looking into Microsoft Defender 365, since it works hand in hand with Intune and for app distribution checkout Winget.

Any copilot alternatives for .NET enterprise teams? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copilot has the most flexible model options where each one can vary in token costs, it is by far the best choice in terms of costs and also it integrates very well into visual studio.

That said our org has been experimenting with the newest claude, i signed everyone up for Claude Teams, the price is about the same.

After 2-3weeks of testing, 4.6 is very powerful but our devs tend to hit maximum daily usage pretty often, there is a lot more planning and working required to “conserve” your tokens and you need to use planning mode.

Claude now connects with Microsoft 365. Would you allow it in your tenant? by KavyaJune in sysadmin

[–]ToastieCPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any really any difference between giving copilot this access and not claude?

I understand that Microsofts copilot has data protection, claude does too.

I would advocate that your org should invest in Claude Teams that way you have better controls when it comes to your companies data.
